N.C. State leads the league in injuries but it is not the only team with problems.
• BC defensive end Alex Albright is out for the season with a disk problem in his neck. Going back to the offseason, the Eagles are now minus both of their defensive ends (Brady Smith was kicked off the team).
On the bright side, starting running back Josh Haden is probable for Saturday's game with UCF. Haden injured his ankle in the Eagles' 19-16 loss to Georgia Tech.
• ECU will be without starting linebacker Quentin Cotten for the rest of the season. Cotten injured his knee against Tulane on Saturday.
• Maryland running back Da'Rel Scott, the ACC's leading rusher, is questionable for the Eastern Michigan game.

Keep the knifes away from the wolfs.
Tue, 09/16/2008 - 16:33 — Anonymous (not verified)Better keep the knifes away from the wolfs. And the gooses and mouses too. Hopefully there won't be more injuries in the first or second halfs.
I had your back (again).

everything I say is laced and steeped in truth on here. its just most things I say doesnt sit well with you. truth is a hard thing to accept when it applies to something negative one likes.

Tue, 09/16/2008 - 09:14 — JamesinWillowSpringsWell, truth be told, I thought Gatr was being sarcastic since he's a tool 99% of the time.
The Buzz crew was on it this morning...right now State fan is hurting because we can't catch a break (or are catching too many of the wrong kind) while Carolina and Duke appear headed in the right direction. It IS frustrating because you'd like to know how your team would stack up if half the starters on offense weren't out with injuries and we hadn't lost 41% of the 05 and 06 recruiting classes. We're hurt, we're thin and we can't score to save our lives.
So forgive us if we lash out at the smallest perceived slight.
My bad
Tue, 09/16/2008 - 08:47 — jpg (author)Wasn't trying to do anything here except update Cotten, Scott and Albright. Really I was just trying to post the news, not rile the Wolfs, and yes, sometimes I like to call them the Wolfs.
I've never understood why Leafs is acceptable but Wolfs isn't. Newspaper people, especially in sports, shorten nicknames at the expense of grammar all the time. Should we condemn Boston, or Chicago for that matter, for not being the Socks?
Switch to decaf, people. Re-read the first line:
"N.C. State leads the league in injuries..."
I didn't realize I needed to rehash every State injury in every post.
All I was pointing out was that ECU, Maryland and BC had new injuries, nowhere does it say their situations are as bad as State's — nobody's is (I thought that was understood?) — just that they have key injuries, too.
In case you missed this part, Scott leads the ACC in rushing and probably won't play this week. That seemed newsworthy to me. My bad.
Sometimes I think you guys read too much into these things. It was an injury update, no more, no less.
Oh, and thanks for having my back , James and Gatr

Wolfs?
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 23:27 — izzykareemUhh, jp, who are the "wolfs"?
And to be honest, the injuries that you have detailed, pale in comparison to ours but thanks for trying to make us feel better.
Wolfs? Is that the best the
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 22:13 — Anonymous (not verified)Wolfs? Is that the best the N&O can do? You are right, The buzzards, pilates and turtles have injuries as well and those injuries added together almost equal what the "Wolfs" have.
How long have you been including players kicked off the team in the injury report?
bias?
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 21:45 — Shawn (not verified)Once again you prove the fact that the fishwrap aka n/o is against NC State. We would trade places with any of those teams injury-wise. NC State has BY FAR more injuries than the other teams you listed. Our top 9 skill players are out and/or their back-ups. This fishwrap should pack up and leave Raleigh. This is the reason your hometown paper is laying off. You need to cater to your market.
Are you serious?
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 21:36 — scott (not verified)Are you actually trying to equate these team's injuries with what NC State has gone through? Get back to us when any of these teams has lost 9 starters: Alan-Michael Cash, DT (starter) Anthony Hill, TE (starter) Matt Kushner, TE (#2 on depth chart) Donald Bowens, WR (starter) Clem Johnson, S (starter) Javon Walker, S (starter) Curtis Crouch, OG (co-starter) Geron James, WR (co-starter) Jamelle Eugene, RB (co-starter) Toney Baker, RB (co-starter)
Not even close
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 21:30 — Areyakidinme? (not verified)So how do any of these compare to NINE starters out with injury?????
you've got to be kidding, right?
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 21:09 — Jonathan (not verified)J. P., normally I love reading these articles, because down in Wilmington our ACC coverage sucks. This time I think you missed the boat however. There is no possible comparison between what NC State has faced injury-wise and the programs you listed above. 9 possible starters will be missing this week against ECU. 9. That's 9/22...40% of the starting lineup will be on the injury list. I understand the point, but the closest comparison to what NC State has dealt with this year is the NC State team of last year.
Doesn't even compare
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 20:52 — John (not verified)No team compares in injuries to NC State with the number of starters and/or their backups out for the season or games.
Is this one of those posts
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 20:27 — Anonymous (not verified)Is this one of those posts meant to rile Wolfpack nation? The 3 anecdotes you just gave don't even approach "woes" you mongoloid. Try 8 starters and 1 #2 out. That's woes.
Grammar Error
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 18:52 — Anonymous (not verified)You mean "Wolves" not "Wolfs" I presume.
You are kidding, right? NC
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 18:36 — Anonymous (not verified)You are kidding, right? NC State is currently missing 9 starters. Nine! One player here or there, on that team or this team, is hardly any comparison. State was wiped out before it ever had a chance to find out how good (or bad) the team was. It is literally a lost season.
get real
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 18:19 — Anonymous (not verified)nine guys on state's two-deep are just a tad more of a setback than all of these others combined. nice try though.
WHAT
Mon, 09/15/2008 - 17:42 — Anonymous (not verified)I can't believe anyone would compare those above injuries to our situation. NINE starters won't play against ECU...NINE. Not to mention all the other holes that include:
-Our two starting WRs
-Our two best RBs
-Our two best TEs
-Two Safeties
-and a monster of a DT
Really, we should redshirt all the starters and just hope for next year.
