ATLANTA – This time after getting a big lead on the road in an ACC basketball game, N.C. State kept it.
Six days after losing an 18-point second-half lead and the game at Virginia Tech, the Wolfpack ended a six-game road losing streak with an 86-65 victory over Georgia Tech Saturday in Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
N.C. State led 44-33 at halftime and, after the Yellow Jackets closed to within three midway through the second half, the Wolfpack pulled away for the victory.
The victory improved N.C. State’s record to 14-9 overall and 4-6 in the ACC heading into a Wednesday night game at North Carolina.
Georgia Tech, meanwhile, fell to 10-14 and 1-10.
N.C. State outscored Georgia Tech 9-2 in a decisive stretch in the second half. The run was built around a 3-pointer by Courtney Fells and a three-point play by Tracy Smith inside.
Smith led the Wolfpack with 18 points.

my only fear...
Sun, 02/15/2009 - 00:09 — izzykareemof a win in chapel hole would be all the racist comments from the fans we'd probably hear
You obviously have never
Sun, 02/15/2009 - 03:43 — JPMajorYou obviously have never been to the RBC Center. Don't act like NC State fans have never said any racist comments. I do recall quite a few during the NC State vs UNC game back in 04' which i attended.. So please, take off your red glasses and see it the way it is..
I'm sure inappropriate
Sun, 02/15/2009 - 10:32 — ncsumatmanI'm sure inappropriate comments have been made at every venue throughout the land. Some have just been chronicled nationally. So we'll wear our red glasses and you go back to your elitist ghetto.
Finally, a big win.
Sat, 02/14/2009 - 21:42 — JPDOhioSure it was tight for a while, but it was nice to see the bench finally emptied in a win. Still too many turnovers, but a lot of solid performances off the bench. CJ Williams provided the spark and Ben McCauley didn't score much, but did the dirty work that was needed. Dennis Horner was solid and Tracy Smith is coming on.
Javi played a solid game, but getting across the half-court line was too much of an adventure. Farnold went back to his old wild thing ways a few times, so Sid better get in his face again.
I swear this whole team suffers from ADHD. There are periods each game when they just are all over the place with no focus. Good thing this time they were playing a team that throws the ball around aimlessly more than they do.
Still, a 21 point win on the road in the ACC is nothing to sneeze at. I like the direction the Pack is moving in.
SUDDENLY, THE PACK IS LOOKING BETTER
Sat, 02/14/2009 - 21:40 — Mick007Offense is improving , and the guys appear more focused. May be too little, too late, but a win in Chapel Hole would soothe the Pack's wounds. Brandon, play like a man possessed against the Holes. LEAD your team, big guy. We CAN win over there. Just do it!!!!!!!!!
