ACC Now

Wilson glad to be back

Bookmark and Share

Quarterback Russell Wilson said he is excited to be back in N.C. State's starting lineup after suffering a Grade 3 concussion in the season opener Aug. 28 at South Carolina.

Wilson will start Saturday at Clemson. Doctors cleared him to play in last week’s game against William & Mary, but as a precaution coach Tom O’Brien limited his participation to one snap as a holder for an extra point.

In his first public comments since the injury, Wilson told reporters after practice Wednesday that he made a quick recovery.

“It was just a freak hit,” he said. “I went down, and God blessed me to get back quickly and the doctors did a great job with it.”

Wilson said he isn’t concerned about getting hit again.

"The game is fast, but it’s just good to be out there,” he said. “The coaches have really prepared me and prepared the rest of our guys. So hopefully we’ll do well on Saturday.”
