Matt Saracen or Voodoo Tatum? If Saracen was smart, he would date coach Taylor's daughter. Then Jason Street could give him pointers and ...
What? Sorry. Universal HD has filled the football void in my life by showing "Friday Night Lights" reruns (by the way — Tyra > Marissa Cooper, Brooke Davis, Joey Potter or Kelly Taylor).
Luckily, the real football season kicks off in 10 days and half of the ACC teams still don't have a QB1, or at least one that's been named publicly.
These six — Wake (Riley Skinner), Clemson (Cullen Harper), Duke (Thad Lewis), UNC (T.J. Yates), Boston College (Chris Crane) and Georgia Tech (Josh Nesbitt) — are in place.
The other six? Who knows?
• N.C. State: Tom O'Brien is still deliberating between Daniel Evans, Russell Wilson and Mike Glennon. Why do I get the feeling that Glennon, like brother Sean at Virginia Tech, will be in a platoon (with Wilson)?
• Miami: Randy Shannon's not saying if it's Robert Marve, Jacory Harris or both. The Miami Herald predicts Marve, a freshman who redshirted the 2007 season while recovering from injuries sustained in a preseason car accident.
• Maryland: Chris Turner, who started the second half of the 2007 season, looks like the front-runner to the Baltimore Sun, but Ralph Friedgen isn't closing the book Jordan Steffy or Josh Portis.
• Florida State: Senior Drew Weatherford doesn't have to look over his shoulder at Xavier Lee anymore but Christian Ponder and D'Vontrey Richardson are closing in on the starting job, says OC Jimbo Fisher on Andrew Carter's FSU blog.
• Virginia Tech: The status quo remains for Big Glennon and Tyrod Taylor. Only neither will be throwing pass to Zach Luckett in the near future. Frank Beamer suspended the sophomore receiver after a DUI arrest.Â
• Virginia: Joe Sweatshirt isn't ready to name Peter Lalich the starter. Or for that matter, and any meaningful dialogue to the situation.

Maryland QB battle
Mon, 08/18/2008 - 13:47 — Patrick Hite (not verified)Looks like Friedgen went against logic and named Steffy as the starter today, according to ESPN.com's Heather Dinich. Turner is No. 2 on the depth chart, but James Franklin, the OC, said Portis would play this season.
