Dave Doeren's new staff will have an N.C. State connection. Doeren named Clayton White the safeties coach on Monday.

White played linebacker for the Wolfpack from 1997 to 2000 and went on to play in the NFL. White joins Doeren's staff from Connecticut, where he coached running backs the past two seasons.

White has also been an assistant at Western Kentucky, Stanford, Western Michigan and Western Carolina. White will also be the co-special teams coordinator for Doeren.

"I love that Clayton has coached on both sides of the ball and has been a special teams expert throughout his career," Doeren said in a statement released by the school. "I felt like this was a hire I had to make and needed to make as the final piece of our staff."

Doeren's staff:
Offensive coordinator/quarterbacks: Matt Canada
Defensive coordinator: Dave Huxtable
Tight ends/special teams coordinator: Eddie Faulkner
Receivers: Frisman Jackson
Running backs: Des Kitchings
Cornerbacks: Richard McNutt
Safeties: Clayton White
Defensive line/recruiting coordinator: Ryan Nielsen
Offensive line: Mike Uremovich
Strength and conditioning: Jason Veltkamp
