ATLANTA — Welcome to Atlanta, where the players play, as Ludacris so eloquently put it.
Wednesday is practice day for 10 ACC teams (guess which two teams aren't here?) and the official beginning of four days of blogging.
First note: The court setup is the "old" dome configuration, tucked in an endzone and with temporary stands closing in the court on the opposite side of the team benches.
That would be different than the "new" dome configuration with the court centered in the football field and the whole dome open for business. The NCAA used the "new" setup in the regionals last year and will against this year for the regionals and Final Four.
UNC's 98-63 over Michigan State in December in Detroit was a "new" setup game. Why does this matter? It probably doesn't, but any ancillary benefit of playing in a dome this weekend for UNC (or any other team harboring Final Four hopes) is going to be minimal.
