John Wall, the nation's top-ranked high school basketball point guard, said this morning there have been no changes in his recruiting status in the last week or so.
Wall said he still had N.C. State, Duke, Memphis, Baylor, Kansas, Miami and Kentucky on his list of posssible schools.
North Carolina coach Roy Williams contacted Wall last week, calling from the Final Four in Detroit, but Wall said he had not spoken with Williams since.
"North Carolina is not recruiting me now," he said.
Asked if he would be interested in North Carolina if the Tar Heels started to recruit him, Wall said, "That's something I would have to look into."
He expects Williams to contact him again, but Wall said he knew of no timetable.
Wall is in Portland, Ore., to play in the Nike Hoop Summit against an international all-star team. He also will play in the Jordan Brand game in New York City.
Among his teammates in Oregon are center DeMarcus Cousins, a former Memphis commitment who committed to Kentucky following Coach John Calipari's move to the Wildcats, and shooting Xavier Henry, who had been committed to Memphis but is now undecided. Memphis was Wall's leader before Calipari's exit.
He has no leader now, he said.
Wall said he talks to other players about their recruitment and would talk with teammates this weekend.
Walll said he doesn't look at Internet comments about him very often but has not been offended by anything he has read.
"Some people know you, but most don't," Wall said. "People are going to talk about you. I don't pay much attention."

I had a chance
Sun, 04/12/2009 - 19:13 — jeromfitzto watch that USA vs World Basketball game today and was please with Wall style of play. Watching him sometimes remind me of myself in high school. He's flashy and mostly all offensive minded with defensive gambling techniques that most colleges would love to have. I think he have show his range on the outside and not worry about too much on the inside during the game. He seems to cancel the three point to penetrate to get an assist or three-point play. His athleticism is all that. He reminds me really of well handles Dominique Wilkins, Isaih Thomas, and Quentin Thomas. He got the whole package wrap into one. He can point the direction real well and I know he can play a shooting guard also. If John Wall grows two or three more inches he'll kill players at the three position on the wing. Like I say he can play wherever he likes. I notice he got Kansas on his list. Kansas has Roy Williams system involve in their schematics. The problem is do UNC wants to stack guards like that in one system? Patient is a virtue.
Wall in the UNC Hall Museum
Thu, 04/09/2009 - 16:23 — hat_in_handIf Lawson declares. Wall is a Tarheel. Could not ask for a better situation. He can run the show, will have plenty of support to make another Final 4 run and joins the fraternity of Jordan and the boys.....special air. I can assure you Duke is off the list. One verbal slap from MK and he would be packing.
Sounds to me like Wall
Thu, 04/09/2009 - 13:50 — GoHeels1984Sounds to me like Wall either is insulted that UNC is not "recruiting" him or that he actually wants to be recruited by and play at UNC. If he is insulted, then UNC doesn't need that type of player. On the flip side, he may be what is needed short term in the absence of Ellington, Frasor, and Lawson. Perhaps Roy called and asked that Wall wait on his decision until the UNC players decide on who's going pro, etc. early? Could be a guaranteed starting job on a team that would provide the best overall visibility for the NBA. Who knows.... He could be coming to C.H.
