I can't blame McCauley for his reaction to Copeland driving for a dunk. He must have felt shame and frustration after Hansbrough made him look like an incompetent flat-footed pussy all afternoon. He just needs to remind himself that Hansbrough does that to just about everyone he goes up against. Copeland made the mistake of sinking to the level of his opponent.
and all Carolina fans everywhere. Tyler Hansbrough is good...heck, I'd be good too if I had every referee getting on their knees for me. I was in shock that he actually got called for two travels during the game. But no fouls called on him, no way an inside player would ever get called for a foul.
And anytime a State player would drive with the ball it was a charge...even if a UNC player was moving it was consistently a charge called on us. But what about the other end? All blocks. They called blocks on us but when the Tar Heels did the same thing, it was a charge. Absolutely ridiculous.
And as far as the ending goes, what do you expect? I mean seriously if you're up 15 and you try to dunk with 3 seconds left, you deserve to be fouled...and fouled hard at that. I mean we could have gone for 48 points in football but we just took what you gave us and got 41. And don't give me any of that "Copeland never plays give him a break" bull crap. If he's a Division I collegiate basketball player, he's scored (and most likely dunked) plenty of times in his career.
University of North Carolina fans are the most ignorant people on the face of this earth.
I was proud of the way Ben handled the situation...he didn't swing back at Copeland, nor did he ever back down from him. Good job.
As for Copeland....he's this year's winner of the Makhtar NDiaye "Carolina Way" Award, given to the player that best exemplifies the "Carolina Way." Congratulations, Mike! You earned it!
Ben had already taken a swing at Copeland, thus the reason for the intentional foul. Then they both were given technicals. Cope was not ejected, Roy sent him to the locker room.
what are you talking about?? I didnt recall the foul happening on the baseline on one of the corners in front of UNC's bench.
No, I rec all it happening as Copeland went up for 2 pts with both hands.
classy. not even going to respond to that other than i'm thinking about going to have a slice of pizza athe filling station on the corner of Hwy 50 and sanders/plesant rd this afternoon around, say, 4pm!
Do you want to talk about classy? Actually pushing the ball up court with less than 10 seconds left and then passing it to a player who tries to dunk with 3 seconds left. That's really classy.
let me tell you about class...ever been to a Carolina basketball game? Where they tell African-American players on the other team to go back to the ghetto?
hey, a blanket statement like that is not true. If you are wearing light blue and talking trash, I could see where you might have a different perspective
not surprised. typical lack of class from unc. hmm, let's try and run the score up with 2 seconds left and then try to start a fight when they stop us. and unc wonder's why people hate them. there's a way to play the game and be respectful, but that's not part of the unc gameplan i guess. at least the ref actually ejected this fool, unlike two years ago when overrated-T took a bitch-slap swing at brandon costner
Is a term that should be used only in little league and junior high sports. It's in college where teams play to win, and win big. Only the loser will complain about the margin. This causes me to remember the UNC vs. NCSU football game last fall. What about that score? Or is that ok in football... Again, I've heard the same complaints around here for all 34 years of my life. The fact is that more times than not the better team wins. If they win big, they're just that much better.
the football game this fall? We didn't run the score up. You must have not watched, because at the end of the game all we did was run the ball, you're defense just couldn't stop it. We intercepted inside of your 20, and then ran the ball into the endzone. That's not running the score up, that's called playing conservative football when you're already ahead. Would you like us to down the ball with 5 minutes left? That would be a slap in the face.
so I guess NCSU version of "stopping" foes is to intentionally try to go after someone in a vulnerable state regardless of the situation? no, inferior, whiny, little brats do this. If I were wrong, it would happen all the time ... which it does not.
you dont even give the reader a hint what Mccauley did was wrong. truly unbelievable.
If UNC was running up the score, they were doing it using their second and third string players. Copeland isn't a starter. If State can't stop UNC's third string players from running up the score, they have no room to complain about a deficit.
They played in the last two minutes there genius. They didn't even barely score. We played tough and battled ya'll for the first 30 minutes, against your STARTERS, not first string. First string is in football. Seriously go back to Wal-Mart, return the T-Shirts that you bought, and quit life.

Sat, 01/31/2009 - 22:54 — dujourHow is it classy to violently foul an opposing player from behind with 1.9 seconds left on the clock?
McCauley should be suspended.

Mon, 02/02/2009 - 10:56 — JamesinWillowSpringsI think you nailed it when you described your post as "ridiculous." Suspended? For preventing Copeland from scoring? Please.
Copeland should be suspended for trying to start an altercation. Credit to McCauley for not responding in kind.
