It looks like North Carolina's kicker-by-committee strategy is over. Redshirt freshman Jay Wooten made three field goals and handled all of the kickoff duties during Thursday’s win at Rutgers.
“I want postition competition, and I would never say it’s over for Casey [Barth] this year or down the line,’’ coach Butch Davis said Sunday. “But Jay performed very well, and earned the opportunity to be the guy next week."
UNC (2-0) plays Virginia Tech at 3:30 on Saturday at Kenan Stadium.
