UNC's Pianalto fractures leg

Bookmark and Share

North Carolina tight end Zack Pianalto fractured his left fibula, during his first-quarter touchdown reception during Saturday's 28-7 win over Georgia Tech.

Coach Butch Davis did know know Sunday when the sophomore would return. The fibula is non-weightbearing bone of the leg.

Pianalto missed Carolina's previous two games with a high right ankle sprain before returning to play the Jackets.

"The timetable for that, we don't know anything at this particular time,'' Davis said. "It's the opposite leg from the high ankle sprain but it's going to take some time to mend, and we don't know exactly how long that will be right now."
