UNC's Jones to miss opener

Bookmark and Share

UNC will be short one receiver for Saturday's opener against The Citadel. Sophomore Dwight Jones will miss the game with a knee injury.

Jones, listed as the starter opposite Greg Little, will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Friday, according to a UNC release. His return will be determined after the surgery.

Freshman Joshua Adams will likely start in Jones' place.

Citadel

I expect Dwight to be out for 2 to 3 weeks and it is unfortunate, but good thing that we have the Citadel coming to town to work out some kinks and let the young guys get some experience.

Not that I am looking past this first game, I mean State was supposed to beat S.C. and that didn't happen. State's offense was supposded to be unstoppable and that didn't happen. State's defense was supposed to be terrible, but they held an "SEC opponent" to just 7 points, etc....

Now, back to UNC, I can't to see what A.J. can do. Go "D" if you know what I mean, but save if for when it is needed.

Best of luck

to Jones in a speedy and effective recovery, and to Adams/Boyd/Highsmith/Fill-in-the-blank. We have a lot of questions at receiver, but I believe those questions will be answered. This could be a blessing in disguise, giving our younger guys some game experience.

HUH??

is this coming out of the blue or what?? no pun intended.

Here's hoping for..

no serious injury and a speed recovery from the procedure.
