CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina starting forward Ed Davis, who
sprained his left ankle against Georgia Tech on Saturday, will be
"limited at best" at practice today, coach Roy Williams said.
Davis' availability for Wednesday night's game against Wake Forest
will be a game-time decision, Williams added. "Some guys that are
limited -- the day before Virginia Tech, Marcus [Ginyard] was limited,
but looked great and jumped right in and felt good, was able to go,"
Williams said. "The game before that, Charleston, Will Graves and
Marcus were limited, and neither one played. ... So I just don't know
[if Davis will play]."
If Davis — No. 24 UNC's second-leading scorer and top rebounder — can't
go, expect freshman Travis Wear to start in his place. Williams said
starting small forward Will Graves could also play some at power
forward -- and would likely slide to that position before 6-10 John
Henson, the back-up small forward. "I would think Will would slide to
the '4' before John would because he's done it before. But again, it's
conjecture."
Point guard Larry Drew II, who hyper-extended his knee, is expected to practice and start against the Demon Deacons.
UNC, which has had five different players miss at least one game
because of injury, has lost two in a row, and three of its last four.
