North Carolina will join California, Syracuse and Ohio State, plus eight other schools, in next season’s Coaches vs. Cancer Classic basketball games.
The event will begin Nov. 9-13 at four regional sites: Carolina, Cal, Ohio State and Syracuse. Championship round games will be on Nov. 19 and 20 in New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The four regional hosts will play two games at home and then automatically advance to the championship rounds in New York, regardless of the regional results.
Other participants will automatically advance to play a round-robin series at one of two other sub-regional sites, thereby guaranteeing all 12 participating teams of playing four games. Those teams have not yet been selected.
Match-ups for the New York games will be announced at a later date.
