UNC defeats UCLA; will play in NCAA final

CARY — North Carolina defeated UCLA 1-0 in the semifinals of the NCAA Women's College Cup on Friday night at WakeMed Soccer Park.

UNC senior midfielder Yael Averbuch scored on a penalty kick in the 41st minute and the No. 4-ranked Tar Heels held on in the second half.

The Heels will now face top-ranked Notre Dame in the championship final on Sunday at 2 p.m. 

They will look to capture their 19th NCAA title, while the Irish look to secure their third.
