If the way-too-early projections happen to be on target, the 2013 NFL Draft will be dominated by SEC teams even more than 2012.
Nine SEC players went in Thursday’s first round, but a few of the early 2013 mocks have up to 14 prospects from the league in the first round.
One of those is Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray, a guy N.C. State’s defense will have to face in the opening game on Aug. 31 in Atlanta.
Bray, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound rising junior, generally is rated as the No. 2 quarterback. Southern Cal’s Matt Barkley is rated No. 1 at the position and No. 1 overall.
The ACC, which had three players selected Thursday, has only two first-round prospects at this early stage.
State cornerback David Amerson is seen as a top-10 pick. Florida State corner Xavier Rhodes is predicted to go late in the first round.
In the CBS early quarterback ratings, State’s Mike Glennon is at No. 15 _ behind FSU’s EJ Manuel (No. 8) and Duke’s Sean Renfree (No. 10).
