Tickets remain for Evansville game

Bookmark and Share

As of 9 a.m. this morning, tickets were still available for North Carolina's Thursday night game against Evansville, when forward Tyler Hansbrough is expected to break Phil Ford's school record for scoring, which has stood for three decades.

Hansbrough needs only nine points to break the mark, and Ford, now a Charlotte Bobcats assistant coach, will be in attendance

sell out

I'm pretty sure the game will be sold out by Thursday, And I will be one of the 21,750 fans in there. Even if the game is not sold out, it will still be a great game. When was the last time State sold out the RBC center (The Hurricanes Arena) When you can sell out your arena, then you can come talk.

RBC sells out 3-4 games a

RBC sells out 3-4 games a year

When they play UNC, Duke, and when UNC plays at the RBC in the NCAA tourny! (haha).

I think NC State has a hard time selling out  Renyolds. But i guess they play there because they'll have fewer empty seats there. Imagine if UNC played at Carmichael. That would be a sight.

memories

I vaguely remember Carmichael.  saw them beat DUIke and Maryland there.  also saw them lose to Villanova.  what a game that was.  dad took me out of church early for that sunday matinee!!

i never had the opportunity

i never had the opportunity to attend a game at Carmichael. That's probably because i was born in 90' ( yes im a youngin) But being the UNC fan i am, ive certainly heard stories of great games played in Carmichael. Just wish i could have been a part of one.

gvillegatr- I've also seen on past post that you attended ECU. I plan on attending ECU next fall, so in a few years you'll have another member of the ECU Alum for UNC. hehe

Carolina fans might not sell

Carolina fans might not sell out every early season game.
But I promise you there is never a game with under 18,000 in the Smith Center.

Winter Break

Since these games occur during winter break, there are fewer students in attendance and more seats available to the public. Those are the folks who can't get tickets to the ACC and big-name games (e.g., Kentucky) so they may be surprised that tickets are available for any games at all. My guess is that the game will sell out by Thursday.

All kidding aside.

I get the fact that not only is it winter break, but also the holidays and a bad economic environment, so it is a tough time to fill up the arena. My guess is it will sell out by tip off.

My beef is with the looney tunes who spout off about constant sellouts at UNC home games as though they stick with the Tar Heels through thick and thin. The reality is that UNC has a solid base of such fans, maybe even more than most teams, because of their long-term success and tradition. But obviously not enough to fill the arena when school is out.

Like the fan base of many programs, Tar Heel nation has a boatload of frontrunners who are all mouth and no substance when it comes to games like this. They were also absent during the period just before Roy's return, when the Tar Heels were an underperforming collection of individual, albeit talented players.

So I get tired of hearing some UNC posters rave about how much better they support their team as compared to NC State fans, for example. I have to admit, however, I did enjoy Surfers witty response to my original post on this topic. Just love a sarcastic sense of humor.

love it!

go out of town for a few days and you grow some balls!!

but you should at least wait until the game passes and you see an offical head count before you spout off at the mouth about UNC selling out basketball games.

tickets still available will be student tickets as well as tickets the teaching staff wont use.  please dont think otherwise like this is a NCSU football game.

Just engaging in some rant therapy

An occasional rant is good for the soul. You taught me that Gatr. Just following your sage advice.

By the way, I needed to let go of some frustration. I struggled at my quiche cooking class and needed to let off some steam. Works wonders!

So much for growing some balls.

HA!

yea, I wouldnt have brought up the quiche class ... but something tells me that was a joke anyway! :)

I love a good rant!!

ahaha i hear ya!

ahaha i hear ya!

Huh?

Gee, I thought the Tar Heel's loyal fan base always assured an early sell out, no matter who the opponent was. And this is a pretty special day in UNC history to boot.

In the future, please spare us the comments on empty seats in the RBC Center. If you can't sell out every game early with this team, this year and especially on this night, you have no room to talk attendence smack to anyone.

Who are you talking to?

Kind of suprising that this game is not sold out yet, but it certainly could be by game time. But I am not sure what low attendance to the Hurricanes' games has to do with  UNC basketball.
