ACC Now

The real start of football

Bookmark and Share

As sure as the sun will rise in the East, football players will get hurt in the first days of training camp.

Clemson receiver Jacoby Ford (hamstring) and Georgia Tech running back Jonathan Dwyer (hip) are the two biggest names on the camp casualty list, although neither injury has been deemed serious.

With 23 days until N.C. State and South Carolina kickoff the season, expect more tweaks and nicks.

D. Evans..

starting RB for VaTech is out for season with torn up knee. Bad news for them, but I think they've probably got capable backups. One of them wasn't a starter, but will be now. I wish a speedy recovery to Evans, he really broke out last year, and was probably in for a good season.

Evans

I hate to hear it when something like this happens.  He was an outstanding RB last year behind a mediocre O-line.  Ryan Williams had a really good spring and should step in to make for a pretty smooth transitions.  Former Garner player Josh Oglesby will contribute, also.  That being said, I wish the best for Evans.  He's a tough player and I hope this injury won't slow him down in the future.

well

the kicker is not good news on the injury front for ECU.

truly

the worse part of the summer is training camp.  Everyday, I come on here or tune into the radio, I am hoping I don't hear about a player getting seriously hurt ... especially an ECU or Carolina guy!
