Wed, 09/02/2009 - 17:12 — UNC1998of a preview. I will say I think it's right that Davis knows the receivers will work out. Probably their biggest challenge will be run blocking. The offensive line has had some attrition, but all the starters are there, and the 2nd string is good enough to spell them. The defense is a lot of potential, and it will be interesting to see how it works out. I'll say I'm looking forward to Saturday night. Go Heels!

Wed, 09/02/2009 - 12:44 — mad_maxI must have missed something when you introduced Tudor at the beginning as being the most popular pod-caster in Garner...could somebody fill me in please? I was born and raised there, and it seemed like it was mostly a State fan base, therefore most of us despised Tudor. Is that what you were getting at, or did something specific happen recently? Thanks, and nice videos JP...I feel like your camera presence has really gotten to a high level compared to your early videos that I watched way back when.

Biggest concern is backup QB? how about starting QB? if yates can't make it through a game of ultimate frisbee without getting hurt, how he can play 12 football games unscathed?
And last time I checked, UNC's biggest problem is it's porous and depth-starved OL. Without that, no running game and no pass protection for Yates.
I wager that no team has ever been less deserving of a No. 20 preseason ranking than UNC. it's a ranking born entirely of reputation ... davis recruited good players at miami, so unc must have good players, right?

Wed, 09/02/2009 - 12:40 — Heels20First of all, Yates made it through his entire freshman year without missing a game. Second of all, he had the highest passer rating of any QB in the conference. You're right about our O-line having depth issues, but I wouldn't call it porous. We return 3 starters, and none of the projected starters have been injured.
As far as your opinion goes on us being undeserving of number 20, keep in mind that we sat right around 20 for the majority of last season. We bring back an improved defense and an offense with experience at QB, RB and some OL. 9 wins is realistic if we stay healthy on the offensive side of the ball. Otherwise, I see an 8-win season.
In Pain
Wed, 09/02/2009 - 10:09 — SurferJ.P. is in obvious pain as C.T. makes any notion of a positive remark about UNC. (J.P. secretly denies that UNC won the NC last year.) Not that anything is wrong with that, just humorous.
Toots is right on with the QB and WR assesment. The QB situation makes me nervous and the WR talent pool is deep and wide enough for one or two to stand out.
I like 9-3, but injuries would have to be at a minimum and many things would have to go right.
