The cost of college football

At the risk of inciting another App State Riot, here's a link to a study done by The Oregonian on ticket prices among the Bowl Championship Series teams.

The paper broke down prices by "marquee" and "ordinary" games (They provide definitions at the site). The average ACC prices are $48 for marquee and $32 for ordinary games.

The original premise of my "Stop the I-AA madness" rant was you, the fan, was being taken advantage of by the athletic department. It then turned into a manifesto on ASU and as Caulton Tudor put it, "giving David a chance."

We've covered all of that, so please, don't hijack this thread. The Wizard of Odds expounds on the Oregonian's report and the concept of I-A teams paying for wins, and not just from I-AA teams, and who in the end is really responsible for the tab.

He provides links to several worthwhile articles about the nonconference schedules of the Pac-10, Florida Atlantic's big payday at Texas and LSU's bill for four nonconference home games ($2.85 million).

The Wiz wrote:

So while coaches and athletic directors continue to water down schedules, you the fan are paying more for an inferior product. Seriously, don't buy into this nonsense. You're too smart for this.
