ACC Now

Terps counting on experience

Bookmark and Share

GREENSBORO -- Maryland coach Gary Williams said this year's basketball team should take advantage of the experience gained last season.

Williams, whose team advanced to the NCAA Tournament, said his players - 6-foot-7 senior Landon Milbourne and 6-foot-2 junior Adrian Bowie among them - had special moments in games but lacked consistency. A year later, he said, they appear ready to contribute at more steady clip.

That would help Maryland senior guard Greivis Vasquez, a second-team all-ACC player, who considered jumping to the NBA but returned for his final season.

Williams said the improvements of other players will help Vasquez shake his defined role as point guard. He'll be free to roam as a playmaker.

Vasquez said freshmen post players Jordan Williams (6-10) and James Padgett (6-8) could help change Maryland's fortunes in the ACC. He's not worried about leading the team in rebounding any more.

"If we played UNC tomorrow, I feel pretty confident," he said.

sure would be nice

to get some feedback from Coach Williams and the defending National Champions.

It really comes as no surprise to me b/c we never get any weekly clips from Coach Davis or any of his "student athletes" either.

don't mean to be so harsh but it is what it is ... never anything except direct ball game related stuff when it comes to covering UNC here at ACCNow.
