Tue, 03/09/2010 - 08:47 — gcwsiteUnless they play UNC,,,,O'Brien(3-0) won't even need 11 players to beat the Baby Blue again.
4-0
Tue, 03/09/2010 - 12:39 — SurferYou are right, TOB has only been there 3 years, but if you go back one more year, State is actually 4-0, producing a losing season. I am not sure why you think that that is such a good thing though?
I know you feel confident
Tue, 03/09/2010 - 09:19 — unc098but the Pack has to come to our house this year and if you don't have Wilson it could be a very long day...kinda like when Duke got a little tired of Cameron being called Hansbrough Indoor Stadium.
Injuries already? Did they
Mon, 03/08/2010 - 15:30 — duke_blueInjuries already? Did they all trip over one another coming out of the locker room for first practice?

Mon, 03/08/2010 - 21:58 — unc098Imagine if they could get those weapons on the field? Maybe they would have a chance a winning some games....

Mon, 03/08/2010 - 22:50 — duke_blueokay I can see how my comment could have been read the wrong way.....what I meant by it was that they are having injuries right off the bat. they have had what only a couple of practices so far. it wasn't a slam remark. he11 I like state....i pull for them above anyone else in the ACC second to Duke of course.

Mon, 03/08/2010 - 12:46 — unc098Must of slipped these guys some of that injury juice
Nah
Mon, 03/08/2010 - 14:36 — YAR8packNay. The Wolfpack has the "out due to injury" thing covered, see the previous 3 years under TOB as evidence. These guys are just getting a head start for the fall.
So Yar8
Mon, 03/08/2010 - 22:01 — unc098whats the defensive prognosis for the packers this season? Any hope in the secondary??? seriously...not baiting.
I Ain't No Docta...
Tue, 03/09/2010 - 08:41 — YAR8pack...but I think the Pack should be much better.
The real question is whether or not the guy who's running the Wolfpack D figures out the players he has and what he can do with them. I understand "players have to make plays," but, those same coaches have to know the players they have and what plays they can make thru their playing abilities. Running a soft zone defense EVERY defensive down isn't cutting it. Would it really kill NC State to run a lil bump-n-run?
Getting Nate Irving back in the lineup will be huge...if he's back to being healthy.
Hey, along with Mike "zone defense forever" Archer, Jon Tenuta has a checkered defensive record. Maybe two wrongs will make it right. As you can see, I'm really grasping at straws.
TOB and Co. brought in some big DBs in the 2010 recruiting class that should see playing time early and often. Hopefully the coaches will figure out what they can do with these guys instead of the other way around.
Also, maybe some improvement in tackling will show up. I think Earl Wolff is still getting dragged by Ryan Williams. Come to think of it, does anyone tackle in football anymore?
In other words, I'm going to remain hopefull till I see what the Pack looks like across the span of 4 games.
Humm
Tue, 03/09/2010 - 09:16 — unc098I think Tenuta was a pretty good move actually. The dude has a lot of experience. Irving can't be anything but helpful. As with all teams injuries are the key these days. I think the Heels will actually have an offensive line this year...with some depth and more experience. The coaching staff seems to be exuding confidence about Yates but I am really interested to see what Renner can do. At least he will get some reps.
Anymore word on Wilson?
Irving and Wilson
Tue, 03/09/2010 - 10:11 — JPDOhioPhysically, I am not sure if Irving will be where he was before the accident. But, with his new leaf of life, he will take leadership to a new level on State's defense. Do you see him allowing anyone to get down on themselves under any circumstances, after what he has been through? I don't.
So I'll leave the X's and O's to you guys, who are way better at that than me. But having a leader on the field like Nate will ensure that the Pack's defense will bring its best effort. That is at least half the equation.
As far as Wilson is concerned, I think his baseball prospects are overblown. He has talent without a doubt and has a home run to win a game so far this year. But he is not starting and may be no more than a role player this year.
Not that this is bad or that he isn't valuable. It just that it does not smack of a player that is going to be a high draft pick in June. So if he is drafted, he will have a choice of returning to BCS level college FB or bus trips to places like Niles, Ohio and Batavia, NY.
My guess, based on nothing but my own warped version of reality, is that we will see Russell in Carter-Finley this fall. Playing, not watching.

Tue, 03/09/2010 - 14:02 — unc098Wilson does come back and stays healthy he will be on track to have a really great year. He has good receivers and experience. State will be able score a lot of points. He will probably be the QB of the ACC. Defense will be the difference in the W/L column. Pack certainly has the tools to burn some clock and keeping the D off the field will be important.
