Telep: Schools won't stop recruiting Wall

Bookmark and Share

Scout.com national recruiting analyst Dave Telep said news of a misdemeanor breaking and entering charge against Word of God point guard John Wall probably won’t have much of an effect on his recruitment.

"I think as long as things stay status quo and nothing else comes of this, I don't believe it will have much effect if any on his recruitment," Telep said.

The exception, Telep said, would be a coach who believes he isn’t going to get Wall anyway. Such a coach might use the charges as a convenient excuse to stop recruiting Wall, Telep said.

Schools that have a legitimate interest and shot at Wall will continue recruiting him, Telep said.

Raleigh police cited Wall, a senior who’s rated the nation’s top point guard prospect, on April 27. Duke and N.C. State are among eight schools Wall is considering.

I don't get why athletes,

I don't get why athletes, who already have the best lives in the world, go and break the law and throw it all away? Do they not read the papers? Did they not hear that Vick was making CENTS per hour in jail?'

big surprise about this john

big surprise about this john wall character. i've been talking down about him for a while now. i've worked with his sister and met him. just another 5th-year senior punk who thinks he owns the world. i hope wall is struck by a devestating injury early in his career, forcing him to fend in the real world, and eventually fail.

recruitment," Telep said. Well you might be right.

Shame on you!

I love to poke fun at the competing schools as much as anybody but when you drag people through the mud to do it you say a lot about yourself! I'm certainly not excusing the dumb decesion by John Wall by any means; just like I wouldn't excuse such LOW comments. GO HEELS!!

Wall to NCSU

Maybe NCSU could get Chris Washburn to come back and mentor Wall! Two such stellar citizens would compliment each other!

Wow!

You have a good memory. You had to reach back to 1985-86 for that Washburn reference!

btw, assuming you're a Heel fan, I really don't think you want to get into a mud-slinging contest when it comes to players and ex-players getting in trouble with the law. Carolina has plenty of their own.

Should have stayed inside Wall

Kid wake up, its too late to save your career now, maybe you can play for the Dept. of Corrections or NCSU.

Come on!!!

Come on to NC State! We'd be glad to have you, John!!!

Get over it people, he didn't do much of anything wrong. It was dumb, yes. But he's a kid, and kids do dumb things. It's not like he was underage drinking and then driving *cough! cough!* Ty Lawson *cough!* *cough!*

or like JJ Reddick

who ACTUALLY registered a DWI when he got pulled over ... unlike Ty Lawson.

that's just more evidence

that's just more evidence of the special treatment the guys in chapel hill get

Ohhh get over it

Ohhh get over it already...
