Tar Heels tweeting their reactions

Bookmark and Share

CHARLESTON, S.C. — It was a quiet locker room after ninth-ranked North Carolina lost to College of Charleston 82-79 in overtime Monday night. Not so quiet on Twitter, though. Here's a sampling of UNC players' tweets in the hours after the Tar Heels blew an 11-point lead in the final four minutes of regulation:

Freshman John Henson (johnhenson31): Just made someone's college career relevant ... damn (note: since taken off his twitter page)

Sophomore Justin Watts (MyNameisJWatts): On the way back to chapel hill .. Going to sleep as soon as I get back

Sophomore Ed Davis (eddavis32): Just got back to chapel hill. In this business us got to have a quick memory forget fast and move on

Senior Marcus Ginyard (MGINYARD): Charleston police should have their hands full tonight

Walk-on Terrence Petree (tpetree): Say what u want. I believe in my 15 brothers....

If the name of the site is Twitter

Aren't the people to do it Twits?

Check these out

If you think these twitter posts are a joke, check out Marvin Austin's or Greg Little's twitter pages for a laugh.

I'd hush on that

I hate UNC as much as anyone; however, I don't really see the viability of this weak jab when I'm sure there are several twitter accounts for State, Clemson, VT, Georgia Tech players, to name a few, that are just as bafflingly dumb and illiterate as these two yokels'.

hahahhahahhhaha

I think this is AWESOME. I'm surprised the tar heel players didn't and fans didn't all meet at the smith center to cry together, oh that's right, they are having a hard enough time getting people to come to games.

Can You People Read?

The headline of this BLOG POST (not a newspaper article) is "Tar Heels Tweeting Their Reactions" so unless you are an idiot you knew it had to do with UNC players using Twitter...and yet some of you still read the article and felt it necessary to whine about it. Unreal.

Ha

You completely missed the point, but I expect it from trolls such as yourself.

I missed the point?

What exactly was your point? That you couldn't hack it in J School so you gave up? That Twitter scared you into not writing for a living? That Pickeral had 5 minutes to kill so she posted a blog entry? That's part of her job. Whatever. The social media train has already left the station and you have been left behind. See ya'!

Haha

You're exactly right.  I'm a bitter Tar Heel who couldn't make it in J School so I take my anger out on trolls on the ACC Blog.

I honestly don't see how you can appreciate this kind of journalism if you're a true sports fan.  If you think this article, or "blog entry" is about Twitter, then you're about as oblivious as Chuck Amato on November 27, 2006.  It was clearly a weak jab at Carolina basketball and an attempt to start contraversy on the character of the players.  Pickeral also wrote pieces on the fan situation at the Presbyterian game, leaving out key details that simply left those who weren't at the game to believe that Roy told security to kick out an innocent fan (not the situation at all).

Obviously, you're a manly man who cares more about what 19 and 20 year-olds have to say after a loss than the game itself.  You probably support the media who are out to find out how many women Tiger slept with instead of ethical journalists who would rather be there when he wins a grand slam.  Heck, it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if you were one of the liberal fans who accused Mike Gundy of being sexist after his rant directed toward Jenni Carlson when he was defending his player.  It seems safe to put you in the category of the guy who wanted to write a story on how Jim Calhoun gave none of his salary back to Connecticut (also, not true) when having no knowledge of what had occurred in the game preceding the interview.

It's nice to see we have fans from all three triangle schools commenting on how ridiculous this "blog entry" (more important to be politically correct than straight up right, eh Richard?) is.  Unfortunately, Mr. Foc here makes up the minority that would rather read irrelevant garbage.

Blog posts

Are not Journalism.  Dont compare the two.

Dang Heels..if you ever

Dang Heels..if you ever decide to run for President and become a Duke fan, you would have my vote!!

Gee...

Bitter...table for one. Bitter?

Gee...

Don't forget that you're the one who provoked a rebuttal, and you shouldn't be miffed when reading it. Isn't that how these blog entries work?

Well Heels....

you know there's got to be at least one in every bunch.

Hello People!

This is a blog post, not an "article..." Give it a break...

Ed Davis = Literary Genius

And all this time I thought UNC was a liberal arts school that produced writers... LOL, I dig irony.

Well...

All I got out of this article is that we should have Pickeral report on Tiger Woods' issues since she takes more interest in what goes on off the court than on it.  This display of responsible journalism has led me to the conclusion that we should completely forget about what guys do on the court, and focus on what they say and do after a rare loss.

Tweeting

The most useless use of technology ever invented.

Not true

I have read several articles where Twitter has been used by people to coordinate assistance in emergencies like the mumbai attack and gather reports from locals during the rigged Iranian election.  You bunch of luddites need to embrace technology.

Fair enough

What I object to is the idea that someone is so self important that they think what they are doing every moment of every day is fascinating to others.

Technology, like many products and services, is best used in moderation and in a proper setting. Your examples fall perfectly into that category.

So Agree!!

It's scratching pretty low in the bucket when all we have to report about is what the players tweet or put on their facebook pages!

He11....I don't want to know what Duke players tweet about....much less anyone else! What they do on the court is all I care to hear or read about.

ESPN

If ESPN has taught us anything, it's that sports "reporting" like this is the wave of the future.

This type of stuff is dumb; it has no place within any sports section.

I could not agree more

This is exactly why I quit writing and refused to do anything journalism-related in college.  Pickeral has a dream job, and yet wastes time by writing pieces like this.  Unbelievable.
