CHAPEL HILL — Clemson's still 0-for-Chapel Hill. The streak hit 54 with UNC's 94-70 win over the Tigers on Wednesday night at the Smith Center.
Clemson-killer Wayne Ellington did it again, scoring a game-high 25 points, including a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left in the first half to start the avalanche that buried the Tigers.
The Tar Heels closed the first half and opened the second-half with a 20-4 run to extend their NCAA-best home winning streak against Clemson to 54 games.
Clemson actually led by as many as five in the first half and controlled the game for a 7-minute stretch in the first half but wilted in the final 5 minutes of the first half.
Clemson's 3s stopped falling in the second half and Carolina put it all together — Ellington, Ty Lawson (16 points), Deon Thompson (15) and Tyler Hansbrough (20) are all contributing on offense.
Ellington scored 36, 28 and 24 points in three games against Clemson last season.
UNC shredded Clemson's full-court pressure defense, only a 6-of-11 performance from 3 kept the Tigers in the game in the first half.
Terrence Oglesby scored 17 points in the first half, with three 3s, to carry Clemson's offense.
The Heels pushed tempo and turned Clemson's press into a fastbreak. Ellington and Lawson had five assists each and UNC had assists on 13 of 16 first-half field goals.

UNC's game was shown to be improving.
