UNC running backs A.J. Blue and Jamal Womble are both scheduled to undergo surgery on Friday after suffering injuries in the Tar Heels' 42-12 win over Georgia Southern.
Blue, a freshman who has been used mainly as a "Wildcat" quarterback, injured his left knee in the fourth quarter. Womble, a reserve running back, fractured his right wrist covering the opening kickoff.
The status of each player will be updated after the surgery, according to a UNC release.
The Heels (4-2) have a bye week and don't play again until Thursday, Oct. 22.

I hope for a speedy recovery to both players..
Tue, 10/13/2009 - 13:02 — UNC1998Womble wasn't being used much, except for special teams. Those losses mean someone else must take his place. That risks injury to a regularly used player. Blue had little success, but you could see his promise.
injuries
Tue, 10/13/2009 - 12:54 — izzykareemare always bad, but i don't think this will hurt UNC-CH that much. I know Blue ran the wildcat occasionally but of the 2-3 times a game they run the play, how successful has it been?
Womble played some against scrub teams, and in my mind, maybe he's being under utilized (coach's know best i guess) but he wasn't that big of a contributor. I guess if something happened to Draughn then he'd step in.
Not good

Let's hope the surgeries, scheduled for Friday and not Tuesday, are minor with speedy recovery for both.
