Six players from UNC, N.C. State and Duke named to Preseason All-ACC football team

GREENSBORO — Florida State and Miami led all ACC teams with four players selected from each school to the Preseason All-ACC Football team announced today.

Virginia Tech, Clemson and North Carolina all had three selections apiece, Boston College and Duke each had two players named and N.C. State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, and Virginia each had one player selected.

Wake Forest was the only league team not to place a player on the Preseason All-ACC team.

The Seminoles, who were picked by the ACC media this weekend to win their first ACC football title this fall since 2005, had quarterback EJ Manuel, offensive tackle Andrew Datko, defensive end Brandon Jenkins and cornerback Greg Reid (as a punt and kickoff returner) named to the preseason team.

Miami's Preseason All-ACC quartet is guard Brandon Washington, center Tyler Horn, outside linebacker Sean Spence and safety Ray-Ray Armstrong.

For UNC, wide receiver Dwight Jones, defensive end Quinton Coples and defensive tackle Tydreke Powell were named.

Duke is represented by All-America placekicker Will Snyderwine and wide receiver Conner Vernon.

N.C. State tight end George Bryan, a 2010 John Mackey Award semifinalist, is the sole Wolfpack player on the team.

Running back Andre Ellington, defensive tackle Brandon Thompson and punter Dawson Zimmerman represent Clemson on the team.
