Sexton's ankle only sprained

Bookmark and Share

Former UNC quarterback Cameron Sexton's ankle injury is only a minor sprain, his father said Sunday night. Brent Sexton said he wasn't certain whether his son, now the starter at Division II Catawba, will be able to practice this week, but he will play again this season

"Cam is in good spirits, and we're just all thankful it wasn't anything more serious,'' Brent Sexton said.

Sexton was injured during third offensive play of Catawba's game against Fayetteville State on Saturday, on a late hit. After icing down his right ankle, he left for Chapel Hill at halftime. He wanted to be looked at by Tar Heels orthopedic surgeon Tim Taft, who performed surgery on that ankle when Cameron was a freshman. Brent Sexton said he got a call from his son in the early afternoon and Cameron told him there was no swelling, and the prognosis is good.

Cameron Sexton was a part-time starter for the Tar Heels last season, but opted to graduate and transfer to Catawba for his final year of eligibility, because he knew he would start there.

His new team opened the season at St. Augustine's last weekend, where at least a dozen of his former Tar Heel football teammates, plus several UNC basketball players, came out to support him.

aside from the spam...

why is the N&O wasting real-estate on Cam Sexton's progress and injuries? There are lots of former UNCCH'ers and there aren't any stories about how jail is, or their community service, or how they are playing on other teams; I know UNCCH fans care about their former players who left disgruntled but they have entire websites to follow such people.

Interesting Observation

Mmm, looks like somebody who is not interested is reading this story.
