Seth Curry, the highest scoring freshman in the country this season at Liberty, will transfer to Duke. Dell Curry, Seth's father, confirmed the commitment Sunday evening while driving back from a day with his son and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski in Durham.
"Seth committed before he left," Dell Curry said in an interview. Duke was the only school Curry visited since being granted his release by Liberty University.
"There were other schools he was going to visit, but Coach K really wanted Seth," said Dell Curry, a former Virginia Tech and Charlotte Hornets star.
"His vision for Seth and for the program, it was great as parents to hear someone of his stature sell us on how bad he wanted Seth."
Curry is the younger brother of Davidson star Stephen Curry.

Duke fans love the arena...
Wed, 11/04/2009 - 09:57 — IftikharThey raise so much money through Iron Duke donations and high season ticket prices. Duke fans love the arena and the majority are more than willing to put up with a little heat in exchange for one of the top home-court advantages in the country. Also, the players have some of the best facilities in the country, so recruiting doesn't suffer.

Duke didn't waste any time
Tue, 09/15/2009 - 18:53 — alexdenipaulDuke didn't waste any time sulking over its Sweet 16 loss to Villanova Thursday night in Boston. Instead, the Blue Devils picked up the most coveted transfer available when the nation's top scoring freshman, Seth Curry of Liberty, decided to transfer to Duke for next season home insurance.
Curry's father, Dell, told ESPN.com Sunday night after a visit to Durham earlier in the day that Seth was offered a scholarship by the Blue Devils and accepted. Curry, who averaged 20.2 points a game for the Flames this past season, will sit out the 2009-10 season and be eligible for 2010-11 as a third-year sophomore. A source close to the Blue Devils confirmed the transfer offer was made and accepted bankruptcy.
Dell Curry, a former star guard with the Charlotte Hornets said once Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski made clear the Blue Devils wanted him, it wasn't a hard decision for Seth. Dell Curry said Krzyzewski stressed that the Blue Devils will need scoring guards in two seasons after the departure of juniors Jon Scheyer and Gerald Henderson. The Blue Devils have two younger point guards in sophomore Nolan Smith and freshman Elliot Williams, who would be a senior and junior, respectively when Seth Curry would be eligible citi cards.
"Coach K kept telling him the timing couldn't be better," Dell Curry told The Associated Press. "There'll be plenty of opportunities to contribute."
Seth Curry said the opportunity to continue his career at Duke, and get a Duke education were other major factors in the decision. Dell Curry said the family was wowed by the new Duke practice facility, which Dell said is on par with NBA facilities car loans.
Seth Curry's plan once he left Liberty was to transfer to an ACC school in his home state of North Carolina. He accomplished that goal within the first week. Dell Curry said that Liberty coach Ritchie McKay "was great through the process and really helped us. He was tremendous. He showed no bitterness."
The 6-3 Curry led the Flames to a 23-12 record this season and an appearance in the inaugural CollegeInsider.com tournament.
Meanwhile, Dell Curry said his elder son, Davidson junior guard Stephen Curry, still hasn't made up his mind on whether to declare for the draft. Stephen Curry is a projected lottery pick. He has until April 30 to declare for the draft, But Dell Curry said Stephen won't let the decision drag too long.
Amazing isn't it...
Sun, 07/05/2009 - 03:16 — Nathanial12I am amazed to read about his vision for Seth and for the program, it was great as parents to hear someone of his stature sell us on how bad he wanted Seth.

Transfer
Sun, 03/29/2009 - 22:08 — topping241This transfer should both help Duke and Seth Curry. Lord knows Duke needs a point guard and Seth Curry needs a more visible program than Liberty University. I agree with the previous comments that Curry will need to come up to speed quickly and it's good he will have a year off. There are some very skilled point guards in the ACC. Stay tuned!
I never
Sun, 03/29/2009 - 21:06 — jeromfitzthought Duke would let transfer in the private tight small space on Coach K court. You can hardly breath in the space. The University needs to expand their horizon and get civilize with a new place to play in. What good is this Seth Curry? ACC just make chump change of him right now but he has time to develope. Give me Liberty but Duke surely want to give me death. I can't say anymore....where is my representative in this case from 1994? Oh I remember I have no grounds! What is this? A. the Devil rules not come to our place for help.
Cameron Indoor
Sun, 03/29/2009 - 21:13 — trickydickpksDuke will never move out of Cameron Indoor Stadium. They raise so much money through Iron Duke donations and high season ticket prices. Duke fans love the arena and the majority are more than willing to put up with a little heat in exchange for one of the top home-court advantages in the country. Also, the players have some of the best facilities in the country, so recruiting doesn't suffer. Recruits are also impressed by the history of the place.
The only people that complain about the arena are opposing fans who hate everything about Duke. You're probably in favor of demolishing Wrigley Field and Fenway, aren't you?

Year Off
Sun, 03/29/2009 - 21:08 — trickydickpksThe year off will help Curry. He'll be practicing against some of the top ACC players every day for a year to prepare him for tougher competition. He'll also have time to add some muscle.
However, I don't think he'll be putting up 23 points-per-game for the Devils as he did at Liberty.
Re: Year Off
Sun, 03/29/2009 - 21:20 — wolfpacker24"He'll be practicing against some of the top ACC players every day for a year to prepare him for tougher competition."
He's going to be practicing in the Dean Dome against Carolina's guys?
Yes
Sun, 03/29/2009 - 21:57 — trickydickpksDespite the fact that the Duke players are "some" of the top players in the league (They did just win an ACC title after-all), Duke and UNC players routinely play pick-up games with each other.
