Rose Bowl to ESPN in '11

Bookmark and Share

The tradition-happy Big Ten and Pac-10 must be doing cartwheels with ESPN's announcement that the Rose Bowl will be on ESPN starting in 2011.

The Worldwide Leader has already announced the move from over-the-air broadcast to cable for the other BCS bowls in Jan. '11. Friday ESPN said the "Grandaddy of Them All" would be moved to cable, too.

The Big Ten and Pac-10 are the last two obstacles to some form of a playoff in college football (if only a four-team format) because of tradition (read: the money the conferences are making with their separate TV deal for the Rose Bowl).

The lesson for today's announcement? Traditions change. Get used to it.

If you don't have cable/sattelite by now...

You're probably not a sports fan.

And...

You are wondering why your TV signal is scrambled.
