Pick Six: Week 14

Tags: ACC Now | Pick Six

We opened up the Pick Six to everyone last week and two commenters, JPD Ohio and ApexJacket, went 5-1.

JPD e-mailed me with his record to which I responded, "You beat me."

His response: "No offense, JP, but you don't exactly set the bar very high."

It's on now, peeps, after going 2-4 (Tudor went 0-6) I'm fired up for Week 14.

Same deal as Week 13, leave your picks in the comments. If you win, you get a shoutout next week.

On with the games:

Miami @ N.C. State

When: Saturday, noon
TV: Raycom
Line: Miami by 1.5

Hate the combination of Miami coming off an el stinko and State its Super Bowl, but Russell Wilson's just too good and Tom O'Brien can coach circles around Randy Shannon and Patrick Nix.

Picks: Tudor (State), Giglio (State)

UNC @ Duke

When: Saturday, 3:30
TV: ESPNU
Line: UNC by 7.5

Thad Lewis returns, which is a plus for Duke's offense, but the Heels can't possibly as bad as they showed last week against State. Heels bring the hammer to feel better about their existence.

Picks: Tudor (UNC), Giglio (UNC)

Maryland @ Boston College

When: Saturday, 3:30
TV: ABC
Line: BC by 7

I actually like Dominique Davis at quarterback, running the read option, more than Chris Crane (out with a busted collarbone) but the Eagles win with their opportunistic defense, which manages the impossible task of taking the ball away (31 times) more than their offense gives it away (26).

Technically, "good" Maryland is due to arrive in Chestnut Hill, but I think it's too late with BC's run defense matching up strongly with Maryland's running game.

Picks: Tudor (Md), Giglio (BC)

Florida @ Florida State

When: Saturday, 3:30
TV: ABC
Line: Florida by 16.5

Called this in August. Given my track record, take the Gators, although you have to admit, the money line (+600) is appealing.

Last two finals in Tallahassee: 21-14 in 2006 and 20-13 in 2004, both Florida wins.

Picks: Tudor (Florida), Giglio (FSU)

South Carolina @ Clemson

When: Saturday, noon
TV: ESPN2
Line: Clemson by 1

You better hope the Gamecocks win, Clemson fan, because Terry Don Phillips is about to make a terry don mistake and promote Dabo Swinney with a win.

Speaking of teams that can't possibly be as bad as their last performance, the Cocks haven't played since the 56-6 Swamp beatdown.

Picks: Tudor (South Carolina), Giglio (South Carolina)

Oklahoma @ Oklahoma State

When: Saturday, 8
TV: ABC
Line: Oklahoma by 7.5

The Sooners can't possibly have any ammo left in the chamber after 65-21, can they? This is Mike Gundy's chance to prove if he's truly a man.

Picks: Tudor (Oklahoma), Giglio (Oklahoma State)
