Pick Six: Week 11

Bookmark and Share

Remember when Duke and State used to play?

If you need a win, play Team ACC Now in the Pick Six. Tudor and I lost again last week.

Zack Mansfield went 4-2, I went 3-3 and Tudor was 2-4. Not good.

Glenn Petty, of Today's ACC Headlines, gets a shot of confidence this week in an ACC-heavy schedule.

I have a guest picker lined up for Week 12, blog favorite GvilleGatr, but we're wide open after that. Send me an e-mail and there's a good chance you can brag to all your friends that you know more about football than the ACC Now fools.

On with the games:

Maryland @ Virginia Tech

When: tonight, 7:45
TV: ESPN
Line: VT by 3

The Hokies are 14-3 under Frank Beamer on Thursday nights. All three losses were to Boston College, two to Matt Ryan.

Each team controls its ACC destiny, the defending champs still have some fight left in them, even if it's with a third-string quarterback.

Picks: Tudor (VT), Giglio (VT), Petty (Maryland)

N.C. State @ Duke

When: Saturday, 3:30
TV: NONE!
Line: Duke by 4.5

State, the only team without a conference win, actually has a few things going for it:

1) Duke's coming off a crushing loss

2) Russell Wilson can exploit Duke's soft pass defense

3) Tom O'Brien understands how to use the bye week, which should serve the Wolfpack well in a red-tinged Wallace Wade Stadium.

Picks: Tudor (Duke), Giglio (State), Petty (State)

Georgia Tech @ UNC

When: Saturday, noon
TV: Raycom
Line: UNC by 4

Great spot for the Heels, who are coming off a bye. GT just played its Super Bowl and the Jackets are missing their best offensive lineman (Andrew Gardner) and potentially their quarterback (Josh Nesbitt).

It won't be a walk, like the BC game, but the Heels take another step to the Coastal title.

Picks: Tudor (UNC), Giglio (UNC), Petty (UNC)

Virginia @ Wake Forest

When: Saturday, 3:30
TV: ESPNU
Line: Wake by 4

After last year's OT win over Maryland, the Deacs reeled off four straight wins. Jim Grobe, like any good coach, understands how to build momentum.

The Hoos have been resilient but moreso at home than the road.

Picks: Tudor (Wake), Giglio (Wake), Petty (Wake)

Alabama @ LSU

When: Saturday, 3:30
TV: CBS
Line: Alabama by 3

The SEC screwed LSU with this start time. Nobody ever wins in Baton Rouge at night. During the day, the Tide will keep proving the naysayers wrong.

That offensive line is NFL quality. Since you won't be getting the State-Duke game on TV, you can watch this one instead.

Picks: Tudor (LSU), Giglio (Alabama), Petty (Alabama)

Oklahoma State @ Texas Tech

When: Saturday, 8
TV: ABC
Line: Texas Tech by 3

Every angle on the planet is against the Red Raiders:

1) Letdown game after beating Texas

2) Trap game because it's the game before they play Oklahoma

If Mike Leach wins this game, he should ask for $5 million from Tennessee or Clemson.

Picks: Tudor (Texas Tech), Giglio (Ok State), Petty (Texas Tech)

Drug Intervention Virginia

TT

Texas Tech actually has a bye next week making it 2 weeks until the showdown with the Sooners so I think Texas Tech will win. As for the other games my picks are VT, State, UNC, Wake and LSU

Josh Nesbitt is Healthy!

Josh Nesbitt is healthy and will start on Saturday. Chapel Hill may have celebrated Obama's win, but the Jackets will be singing "I'm a Rambin Wreck from Georgia Tech" to it's fans in Sections 101 & 102 (including me) after our 24-17 win.
Tudor is once again wrong on predicting a GT loss.
Go Jackets!!!

lol

wow, lets not get ahead of ourselves or anything..

I'm thinking Ok St.

is going to bring TT back to earth. I can also hear the bama fans singing...hey tigers, hey tigers....we just beat the h#!! out of you.....
