N.C. State forward Jordan Vandenberg has missed the past two games with a shoulder injury, Wolfpack coach Mark Gottfried said Friday.
Vandenberg, a 7-foot junior, is day-to-day, Gottfried said, but the coach hopes the forward will be able to play against Stanford on Sunday.
Vandenberg has averaged 2.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in five games with one start. There have been preliminary discussions about Vandenberg using a medical redshirt this season, Gottfried said, but the coach's preference is to get Vandenberg back on the court this season.
"We need him to play, so I'm hoping today he's a little better," Gottfried said.
Vandenberg, a junior from Australia, played his first two seasons and would have the ability to apply for a medical redshirt if the shoulder injury does not improve. Gottfried said that is an option but the situation hasn't progressed to the point where they would have to make a decision.
"It's something we'll watch with him," Gottfried said. "He can help this team right now, but if it's something that we have to look at later...
"I want to do what's right for him, so we'll just take that one day-by-day."
