ACC Now

Pack, UNC, Meineke still waiting

Bookmark and Share

N.C. State athletics director Lee Fowler has a feeling the Wolfpack is heading to Birmingham, Ala., for the Papajohns.com Bowl, but said he still isn’t certain.

Reached by telephone at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Fowler said N.C. State still is talking to officials at the Papajohns.com and Texas bowls about their games.

The Papajohns.com Bowl is Dec. 29. The Texas Bowl is Dec. 30 in Houston.

“They’re saying, ‘Don’t worry, you’re going to be in a bowl,’ ” Fowler said.

But neither bowl officials nor the ACC office have confirmed which one.

Fowler suspects that officials want to withhold an announcement until after the Champs Sports Bowl’s 4:30 p.m. meeting Sunday to select its ACC representative.

Champs officials are expected to choose Florida State for but still haven’t officially ruled out North Carolina.

If Florida State goes to the Champs Sports Bowl on Dec. 27 in Orlando, North Carolina will be selected for the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte.

“I cannot imagine they don’t take Florida State,” Meineke Bowl executive director Will Webb said at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, “but they have surprised me in the past.”

Late Saturday night, Meineke executives announced that West Virginia (8-4) of the Big East will meet the ACC representative on Dec. 27 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

I thought ...

... NCSU traveled well for their major sports teams. Bobcat Arena apparently had only 11,599 tickets sold for the basketball game b/tn NCSU and Davidson?? The arena holds 19,026 people and can expand to 1,000 more seats if needed.

clearly, the expanded seats were not needed for this game.

I hope the football team can, at least, sell their allotment of tickets given to them for the bowl game.

Bowl Game Worthy????

I still find it hard to believe a so-so team is being considered for a post-season football game. Once upon a time bowl games were awarded for being a GREAT or VERY GOOD TEAM. But, I guess, with 34 bowl games out there these days you don't always get anything close to the cream of the crop and must take the also-rans.

BOWL GAME WORTHY?

Maybe if omegaman thinks State is a so-so team that shouldn't go to a bowl, maybe those teams State beat should not be selected either...UNC, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Miami...Hey, if you can't beat a so-so team, maybe you're not worthy of a bowl...

So, Smithfield dude, it

So, Smithfield dude, it would be your opinion that Florida would NOT be worthy? Is that your learned opinion derived from your logic?

UNC Fans:

41-10

For the math challenged...

41-10 = a 31 point loss = a major butt kicking, on Senior day, against a rival, with a conference championship on the line.  Pitiful.

You lost, get over it and stop hating.  The bowl season is what it is... its not the 60's or 70's anymore...  You finished behind a 'so so' team in your own conference...  and struggled to beat a 4-7 Duke team.

But thanks for the continued entertainment... your types are can be quite humorous.
