Pack gets commitment at key position

Bookmark and Share

N.C. State has received a commitment at a position of vital need in the 2011 class.

Hakeem Flowers, a 6-foot-2, 173-pound wide receiver from Wade Hampton High in Greenville, S.C., has committed to the Wolfpack, Wade Hampton coach Kent Haltiwanger confirmed.

Flowers is No. 24 overall in the rivals.com rankings for South Carolina prospects. He joins a team that needs to replenish its talent at wide receiver.

The Wolfpack is losing seniors Owen Spencer, Jarvis Williams and Darrell Davis off the 2010 team. They combined for 138 of N.C. State's 319 receptions and 1,952 of the team's 3,655 receiving yards last season.

I don't see Creecy playing

I don't see Creecy playing anywhere but RB.  The guy is so built that he just looks like a RB.  We could possibly use him in the slot b/c he has adequate speed but I'm thinking RB.

Sleeper indeed

SURFER makes great points. Maybe if State had an active agent on their coaching staff, they'd reel in even more stars.

Trust me

You have a guy like Austin on your team. But unless "he" acts retarded like Austin and posts pics and tweets about what he is doing, folks like us we'll never know about it. Also, "he" obviously is not any good at his "job."

Tony Creecy...

... seems to be a very good talent waiting in the wings.  Anybody hear anything about Creecy?  The Pack was crazy deep at that position this year, so even if he's very good, it would have been a waste to use up a year of his eligibility.  As good as wideouts were this year, i don't think there will be a huge fall-off in talent for "whoever" to throw to next year.

I hope our senior wideouts find NFL slots and prosper.  They sure were great for us Pack fans.  It was nice to see Cotchery last night, speaking of Pack gridiron heroes.

sleeper

Definite sleeper here. Good 3 star (whatever that means) pickup for TOB. Right in his wheelhouse. #110 WR in the country according to Scout.

Rankings

First of all, when all these guys sign their LOI is when all the recruiting talk should really begin in earnest.

Secondly, as if there needed to be more proof of the wackiness in ranking of recruits, scout.com has this guy as a 3-star recruit and the #110 receiver in the country, while ESPNU has him as a 4-star recruit and the #29 receiver in the country. Whatever.

Not many people are talking about him, but I'd look for Quinton Payton to make a big difference for the Wolfpack receiving corp in the coming years.
