North Carolina did not include a depth chart in its game notes released to the media today.
The 18th-ranked Tar Heels open the season on Saturday against No. 21 Louisiana State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff in Atlanta.
It's still unclear which players will miss Saturday's game because of an ongoing NCAA investigation into the program for potential academic fraud and improper contact with a sports agent.
The NCAA began its investigation in mid-July and senior stars Marvin Austin and Greg Little have been working with the second team since camp started on Aug. 6.
UNC admitted on Aug. 26 it uncovered possible academic misconduct between a tutor and an undisclosed number of football players.
Athletic director Dick Baddour said the school will make a decision on the players involved before Saturday's game if it does not get a resolution from the NCAA.

Tue, 08/31/2010 - 15:36 — mad_maxYou do realize that you are at a blog that covers local college sports right?
Well as a coach I wouldn't
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 21:09 — unc098Well as a coach I wouldn't show my hand in this situation either. Why give LSU anything free.
Why should UNC release this?
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 18:52 — UNC1998What is to be gained by releasing a depth chart now? As far as we know nothing's changed. No one's been ruled out (except Gio Bernard). Everything, and I mean everything, that we think we know may be totally incorrect. Do you think LSU is looking to see who will play? Why provide it?
Who cares? The tardheels
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 15:41 — mule10Who cares? The tardheels are going to get the crap kicked out of them regardless of who plays or who doesn't.
Wow, you people are getting
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 15:23 — mad_maxWow, you people are getting way too carried away with this. They haven't released a depth chart because they probably aren't sure about all their positions yet. Think about it, just last week they had to move the majority of their defense to the scout team. It makes sense that it would take a little while to decide who will be the best to step in.
Scout team
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 15:58 — SurferPerhaps it was just a move to help out the offense, from a preparation standpoint, that is.
Lol, I guess that's a
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 17:07 — mad_maxLol, I guess that's a possibility. It's certainly less crazy than some of the cover-up conspiracy theories that I've heard.
Go Ahead Make a Depth Chart
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 14:39 — bilgewaterIn fact, invent some new names. Steal names off USC,UCLA,Oregon,Boise State lineups.Make sure you send different lists to the various newspapers in the state. This will really create a fog.
And,it will drive your opponent nuts.
Invent a new coaching staff list and send this to the sports pages around the state. Nothing frightens an assistant coaches' wife more than seeing their husband's name in print. By the way you can create a tutor's name as well. Why should the newspapers be able to use the term "reliable source" and UNC cannot?
The police often do this when they are breaking up a narcotics ring. They send out false arrest reports and say the person is going to plea bargain.Of course the attorneys are angry since they think their criminal(i.e.Clients in good standing) have gone out of state for their legal help. Then the police will publish pictures of the culprit leaving the municipal building smiling. They can doctor mug shots like anyone else.
Where's the Tutor?
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 14:22 — keihinNow we just need for the press to track down that tutor and get her on the record. Maybe then we can start to get to the bottom of this.
I don't know. I'm getting
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 13:02 — awdracerI don't know. I'm getting a "swept under the rug" feeling. If UNC has done what it appears it has done then they are in line for massive player disqualifications and vacating past wins... just like FSU had to do. I can see the University doing ANYTHING to avoid that.
Cleaning up
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 14:04 — SurferWhat ever has taken place, I expect UNC to do all that they can to clean it up. As far as your "swept under the rug" comment, I suspect that you are hearing some new news? These are serious issues and just avoiding them or ignoring them is not an option.
Thanks
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 11:41 — SurferNice reporting there JPG. Seriously, this is, albeit a small amount of information, but it is good to know. Too bad UNC did not discover the potential academic issues earlier so that they could have sorted out all of who was involved with what before the season started. I expect that UNC will err on the conservative side, which is the correct thing to do, but could also lead to players not getting on the field who could have.
And in related news ...
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 11:26 — piedmontbluesUNC also refused to release the list of the coaches that will be accompanying the team for its game with LSU.
