No home-cooking in 2010

If Duke and North Carolina can’t make the most of a home-state playing site Saturday in Greensboro Coliseum, they’ll have to wait until at least the 2011 tournament to play so close to home again.

Playing sites for the 2010 event, which will begin March 18, include 13 buildings no where remotely close to North Carolina.

The closest locale will be the Jacksonville, Fla. (Veterans Memorial Coliseum), which will host first and second-round games on March 19 & 21. Nearest to the state among the four regional semifinals and final games will be the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.

The 2011 Final Four is set for Houston’s Reliant Stadium (where the Carolina Panthers lost to New England in the 38th Super Bowl). The other playing sites for 2011 are not scheduled to be announced until next month.

Following are the complete 2010 venues:

looks like a lot of college basketball hotbeds in the subregionals. these must be the same people who thought it was a great idea to have the sec tournament in tampa so the empty seats would not have their views obstructed by bodies sitting in them.
