GREENSBORO – The Miami women's basketball program was picked to finish first in the ACC's preseason predicted order of finish.

After finishing tied with Duke in the regular season last year, moving from 12th in the standings during the 2009-10 season, the Hurricanes were tabbed by a Blue Ribbon panel of voters as the team's top team entering the 2011-12 season. They earned that selection for the first time since joining the conference in 2004.

Duke, winners of last season's ACC tournament, were selected second behind the Hurricanes, followed by Maryland, Florida State and Georgia Tech.

North Carolina was selected sixth and N.C. State was selected seventh.

Miami senior guard Shenise Johnson was named ACC preseason player of the year.
