DURHAM — Jabari Marshall caught an earful while riding the David Cutcliffe straight-talk express on Saturday. Marshall's mistake? Taking a swan dive into the end zone to celebrate his 42-yard interception return for a touchdown in Duke's blowout of Virginia.
Cutcliffe immediately yanked the senior CB/KR out of the game. Marshall apologized after the game but before Cutcliffe chewed him out. Cutcliffe said Tuesday the rest, i.e. avoiding excessive celebration penalties in the future, is up to Marshall.
Marshall, who starts at right cornerback and has two picks this year, also currently ranks eighth in the ACC in kickoff returns averaging 22.0 yards per return.
