DURHAM — The sellout crowd at Cameron Indoor Stadium got a rare treat on Sunday watching the Blue Devils beat Rhode Island 82-79 in a nailbiter. Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski called it a "February game in November" but it was even more special since Duke, winners of 62 straight nonconference home games, rarely schedules nonconference home games that turn into such barnburners.
Krzyzewski also praised the Duke fans for their energy during a game that was undecided until the final buzzer. The kudos came some 12 days after Krzyzewski openly wondered where Duke fans were for a mid-week exhibition game against Lenoir-Rhyne on Nov. 5. This audio clip has Krzyzewski talking about the Cameron atmosphere.
