Juco LB to sign with UNC today

Bookmark and Share

North Carolina will add junior college linebacker Fabby Desir to a 2011 class that was ranked No. 17 in the nation by scout.com on signing day.

Desir will sign with the Tar Heels at noon today, Lackawanna (Pa.) College coach Mark Duda said.

"He's a super strong kid, incredibly tenacious, goes after the ball very, very well," Duda said.

A converted running back and safety, Desir played outside linebacker for Lackawanna but could play any of the three linebacker positions for the Tar Heels, Duda said.

Desir is 6-foot and 230 pounds and also had considered Cincinnati and Ball State, and received late interest from Alabama, Duda said. Desir visited North Carolina last week and will sign this morning at Scranton High, where he played in high school.

Very good late addition for the Heels..

While I'm usually not  fan of sigining Juco players... This season was a bit of an odd one with all the players having to lose time. I'm excited to hear the player's skills, and looking forward to football season.

Bob McAdoo

Bob McAdoo was a junior college transfer (one & done BTW) - about the only recruited UNC basketball j.c. transfer I can think of off the top of my head. The recent j.c. football recruit is a likely candidate for the All Name Team - Fabby Desir. My guess would be there have been a few recruited football j.c. transfers, but I'm at a loss as to who and when. I hope Fabby will prove to be a real asset to the Tar Heel football program.

Haktar

Everyones lovable racist, Mhaktar Ndjaiye (msp?) was a juco player.

?

I thinkk you'll find he played for the University of Michigan for two years then transferred to UNC.

No prob

I just recall it being a very unique situation under Coach Smith's regime.

Keep it in the ACC!!
