ATLANTA — Georgia Tech's Iman Shumpert hit a 15-foot jump shot with one second remaining Saturday to give the Yellow Jackets a 76-74 victory over sixth-ranked Wake Forest in Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
Three days after defeating top-ranked Duke, the Deacons lost a Georgia Tech team that entered the game on a five-game losing streak and was winless in ACC play.
The Deacons scored only six points over the final seven minutes and made several critical mistakes in the closing minutes. With the game tied and seven seconds remaining, Wake Forest turned the ball over on an in-bounds play, setting up Shumpert's winning shot.
The loss dropped Wake Forest to 17-2 overall and 4-2 in the league while Georgia Tech improved to 10-10 and1-6.
Center Gani Lawal led Georgia Tech with 25 points while freshman Al-Farouq Amuni led the Deacons with 17 points.
