Injury sidelines Pack's Morgan

Bookmark and Share

N.C. State cornerback DeAndre Morgan will miss Thursday's game against South Carolina with an ankle injury, the school announced Tuesday evening.

Morgan, a returning starter, had been replaced by redshirt freshman C.J. Wilson atop the depth chart last week. Freshman Rashard Smith takes Morgan's place in the No. 2 spot on the depth chart.

Backup center Wayne Crawford also will miss the game with a foot injury. Senior Andy Barbee, who's also the second-team right guard, will back up starting center Ted Larsen.

Other reserves who are out for Saturday's game because of injury include linebacker Ryan Cheek (hip), defensive end Jeff Rieskamp (hip) and safety Javon Walker (knee).

Morgan

So Morgan will be missing the game because of an ankle injury. I just hope his injury would heal soon. Do you think he could play in the game after the one on Thursday?

Houston Townhomes

No worries

Morgan is only at #2 on the depth chart. Besides, I didn't think that State needed a defense?

How many times did that

How many times did that defense take the ball away from you guys last year?

Think

Totally missing the point Max. State's offense is so good that a defense is not needed.

Be Optimistic

Yes our Pack has suffered a key injury on the D losing Irving for the year but Morgan won't be lost for long. Yes we go into our first game w/ our two best defenders not on the field but fortunately we have the 12th man to help make up the difference. The good thing is we do have talent at backup but it is young but looking at our schedule if we can win a couple tough home games by the time we go at FSU any youngster that had to step in will be ready to roll. The most challenging stretch of our schedule is on the backend and if we can get past Pitt we'll be fine. Know that we have the potential for a very explosive offense so an occasional shootout doesn't put us out of the game. Also have two chump oppenents in week 2 and 3 means Glennon get some PT so if Russell get hurts we will have a horse in the stable to bring in. Yes a healthy Irving and Morgan gives our Pack the chance of being great but we still have a chance we'll just have to fight a little harder and that's never been a problem for the Red and White.

Define great. The Pack was great last year with a 6-7 record. Just imagine the hype with a winning season.

Surfer...Definition of GREAT!

41-10 @ your place!

Every year

This is so funny. Every year the hype just builds and builds for NCSU football. The undenialble best feeling is right before the season starts. Then oops, the losing begins and things don't look so rosey. Last year they came back and finished strong, thus adding to the magnitude of hype which currently exist.

Now having said that. I think that this might actually be the year that they have a good season and play well all year long. If so, just imagine next year, if RW hangs around.... I can see the t-shirts now.

this game is certainly not over

but this is looking like "every year" as well.

usually, though, when a non-fan makes a comment like this, the other team (ncsu) magically turns it around ...

Really?

Yes, because one game defines a season.  Funny how State fans forget about the 41-10 beating they took on their home field against South Florida.  Harrison Beck sure looked great while kicking the ball out the back of the endzone.

Jealous much?

It must suck winning 8 games but not getting as much attention as your rival that had a losing record overall but still beat the snot out of your team on senior day.

Not getting as much attention?

You might want to step out of that rock you're living under.  ESPN and AP both have us ranked ahead of State pre-season.

I was more referring to the

I was more referring to the end of last season, not the pre-season rankings of this season.  Ya know, with all the local media talking about the mythical state championship and Russell Wilson's accomplishments.  Just saying, it must of been hard to watch all that after you (and I was talking to Surfer) had such high hopes for your team and starting QB...wasn't yates pre-season all-acc first team QB last year?  Hmm, it makes one question the validity of anything that starts with "pre-season".  But that's a different post for another day...

walked into this

"Hmm, it makes one question the validity of anything that starts with "pre-season".  But that's a different post for another day..."

so, what are you saying about Russell Wilson?

UNC and ncsu

always seem to get hit with the injury bug. i guess everyone esle does too but this is just what we see living here and coming to this blog.

deja vu

There goes the Wolfpack's season, or at least this will be the excuse. I feel sorry for those Wolfpackers who were trying to decide what Bowl they were gonna go to!

Lol, where does Vance get

Lol, where does Vance get off talking like this?  Who is your team buddy?  If it's the Heels, then I don't think you have much room to talk regarding bowl games or using injuries as an excuse.  I mean, isn't that what all of you said about the State game last year?  You had too many injuries at the wrong time?  What a joke.  Vance, I feel sorry for people like you that are gonna crash and burn again when you realize UNC isn't deserving of a top 25 spot.

Leave it to a State fan

to assume worst-case scenario for the Heels.  Despite the losses of Nicks, Tate and some back-up O-linemen, we are improved as a team coming into this season.  We floated around that #20 spot the majority of last season.  Of course, we're very undeserving because of one game last year.  But the Pack, they should win it all.  They aren't a one man team or anything...

who have u seen making excuses?

uncch fans should just stick to sniffing whine and sampling cheeses or crochet or needle-point.  Leave football to the rest of us.  Your bball season will start soon enough.

izzy

what makes ncsu football such an expert in this field (football)??  quit acting as if you guys have 5 (really 6) national titles in football.  you have zero and hardly need to be left anything (in your hands) when it comes to big revenue sports.

Yes, because we know the

Yes, because we know the wolfpack are a powerhouse when it comes to football

44-0 says hi back to ya!
