WINSTON-SALEM -- Wake Forest got 22 points from Al-Farouq Aminu then held off a dogged comeback attempt by Boston College to escape with a 92-85 victory over the Eagles Tuesday night in Joel Coliseum.
The victory allowed the Deacons (17-5, 7-3)to stay within one game in the loss column of ACC leader Duke.
Statistically one of the top defensive teams in the ACC, Wake Forest never found a way to slow Boston College’s Tyler Roche, who scored 31 points, keeping the Eagles within striking distance throughout the game.
The Deacons led 50-39 at halftime after shooting 72 percent before the break. Wake Forest had nine different players score in the first half.
Boston College played without leading scorer and rebounder Joe Trapani, who didn’t make the trip due to illness.

Ron Green Jr. has been covering ACC sports for decades. He attended Mike Krzyzewski's introductory press conference at Duke; remembers when South Carolina was the southern-most school in league; and he thought he'd seen it all, then saw Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl.
