ECU athletic director Terry Holland issued the following statement on Sunday night, in response to the report by the Boston Globe and ESPN that ECU football coach Skip Holtz was scheduled to interview for the opening at Boston College, without mentioning Holtz or BC:
"Given the fact that the media now reports what other media report, sometimes even with headlines on the sports page and/or the announcement of press conferences that were obviously not scheduled, I am going to comment one time and one time only.
No one has asked to speak to any ECU head coach. I specifically say head coach simply because the request for permission to speak to an assistant coach would be directed to the head coach of that sport.
I will not make any further comment on this issue nor will any ECU coach address such situations. There is simply no reason for anyone at one institution to say anything about another institution's search for a coach. A coach should not be expected to say she/he has no interest in a position at another institution if, for no other reason, than it is not fair to the institution conducting the search.
Would you go out of your way to embarrass another newspaper (or station) by making the statement that you are 'not interested in a job at that paper (or station)?' Who knows where that editor will be one day or maybe some day you might be interested in a job at that newspaper for very good reasons."

Political attempts to sabotage ECU recruiting
Sun, 01/18/2009 - 10:10 — cltbobcatsfanSince the ACC is having trouble competing with ECU on the field and in recruiting, the ACC is having their cronies try to sabotage recruiting with false reports. Holland has to call the sportwriters out on this.
ECU has not lost a coach to a BCS school since the end of the 1991 season.
Fans of AppSt and the newly forming UNC-Charlotte programs need to take notice. This same tactic will be used against them.

the way it is ....
Sun, 01/11/2009 - 23:09 — FloydTurboTerry ..... its just the way it is and will be from now on. Sport reporters get their "information" from message boards populated by nitwits in their underwear in mamma's basement. The nitwits simply make it up or purposely lie to embarrass a rival. ...... "everybody does it" and there's no way to stop it.
Sure, reporters could use only credible sources but that takes time and effort and the garbage on the message boards is juicier.
