Harvey will start for UNC (again) tonight

OMAHA, Neb. —
Right-hander Matt Harvey will start for UNC tonight against Fresno State, marking the second straight College World Series elimination game the freshman will begin on the mound.

Harvey (7-2) allowed one hit and one run in the first two innings during UNC's dramatic 7-3 victory against LSU on Friday night. ACC Pitcher of the Year Alex White, who came in to close the game, earned the win.

Carolina should have most of its deep bullpen available tonight. Harvey and White (usually a weekend starter) only threw 29 pitches apiece, while Colin Bates threw 50, Brian Moran threw 26 and senior Rob Wooten threw nine.

Weekend starter Adam Warren hasn't pitched since Tuesday's loss to Fresno State, while Rob Catapano, Mike Facchinei and Nate Striz have yet to pitch in this CWS.

They may all be needed for UNC to win its first national baseball title.

The Tar Heels must beat the Bulldogs twice — tonight and Sunday — to advance to their third straight championship series. The best-of-three showdown against either Georgia or Stanford would begin Monday, meaning the Tar Heels would have to win five games in five or six days to win the CWS.
