Harvey will pitch; Seager is fine

Bookmark and Share

OMAHA, Neb. — North Carolina freshman Matt Harvey, who didn't make it to the mound before UNC's game against LSU was postponed in the first inning Thursday night, will pitch when the game resumes at 7:08 tonight, a school spokesman said in an e-mail.

UNC coach Mike Fox had said Thursday he didn't know whether he would still go with Harvey (7-2, 2.52 ERA). There was some conjecture that the Tar Heels might switch to ACC Pitcher of the Year Alex White, who was the winner when the Tar Heels beat LSU on Sunday. But apparently, Harvey — who last pitched on May 30 against Mount St. Mary's — will make his CWS debut.

Also, second baseman Kyle Seager, who got hit was a pitch in his right elbow, and was seen icing it during the delay, is fine, the spokesman said.
