CHAPEL HILL — Harrison Barnes told a North Carolina spokesman that he will practice in full today when North Carolina resumes preparations for its game here on Wednesday night against No. 9 Wisconsin.
Barnes, who suffered a sprained right ankle in the Tar Heels’ 90-80 loss against on Saturday night UNLV in the championship game of the Las Vegas Invitational, did not practice in full on Monday. Roy Williams, the North Carolina coach, said Barnes wouldn’t have played if the Tar Heels had been scheduled to play on Monday.
Williams, in a colorful news conference, said Barnes’ status would be evaluated after practice today.
Through six games, Barnes has led No. 5 UNC with an average of 17.3 points per game. After sustaining his injury in the first half against UNLV he returned to finish with 15 points in 30 minutes.
