Hansbrough: By the numbers

Bookmark and Share

CHAPEL HILL — So, the two most important numbers for North Carolina fans today are obvious: 2,290 (Phil Ford's current career scoring mark), and nine (the number of points Tyler Hansbrough needs to pass that mark).

But here are some other interesting Hansbrough-related digits, provided by UNC, as Hansbrough and the Tar Heels prepare to play Evansville:

1,075 — points scored at the Smith Center

141 — points scored against N.C. State, his highest total against any team

127 — points scored against Duke, second-most

58 — points in two games against Michigan State, his most against a non-ACC foe

40 — career high, against Georgia Tech on Feb. 16, 2006

26.9 — UNC's career record for points per game average, held by Lennie Rosenbluth, which Hansbrough agrees will probably never be surpassed

6 — single-digit games

6 — games of 30 or more points

3 — favorite bucket he has ever made, against Duke his freshman year

I'm pretty sure Carolina,

I'm pretty sure Carolina, along with every other program on the planet, would've taken Laettner in a heartbeat. He's probably the second or third greatest player in ACC history. To say you'd pass on him is a fallacy, at best.

UNC Fans

Weren 't jealous of Duke players in the 90's. There was only one player the Heels would have wanted thru those years, Grant Hill. UNC was beating Duke thru the 90's, won a title and went to 5 Final 4's. I don't recall any jealousy. It was Duke sucking air thru the middle of the 90's wishing they had guys like Stackhouse, Wallace, Jamison, Carter and Cota. Just mentioning those names will make Coach K get a back ache.

As for NC State. Who wasn't jealous of David Thompson? But that's been 30 years now.

Guaranteed!

This article is GUARANTEED to incite the Hillsborough Street Chapter of The Claude Sitton/Jimmy V Conspiracy Club. Its not as if The N&O doesn't already have enuff trouble. This should drive away any remaining NC State subscribers.

He will surely go down...

as one of the best ever at UNC. It's neat that I'm living to see it.

nice

I love how the "most points vs another team" is against NC State & Dook!! No wonder they hate Hansbrough so much...

re: nice

When you're playing those teams twice every year that's bound to be the case....

yeah

Than why are the wolfpack players( who play UNC twice a year) not lighting UNC up with their highest point total?  Your right, it does have to do with playing the lowly pack, but more to do with Hansbrough owns rivals and especially ones with inferior talent like state

LoL

they'll say anything to make it not look as bad...

take it to the bank.

they always do. they want nothing more than Hansbrough to be wearing their jersey. how come UNC fans are never jealous of a NCSU or DUIke player??

they were

They were jealous of NCSU way back in 73-74, and of Duke in the early 90s.

Unfortunately the  never-ending stream of top talent keeps rolling into chapel hill...

lol

...like the majority of ACC teams?
