After UNC's 69-65 victory over Miami, the Miami team doctors thought Tyler Hansbrough might have suffered a low-grade concussion, but UNC's doctors have not confirmed it yet, spokesman Steve Kirschner said.
Coach Roy Williams was talking about guard Wayne Ellington's arm injury and point guard Ty Lawson's illness during his Monday night radio show when he added: "Tyler Hansbrough [was] getting banged around a little bit, and I don't know if we've announced it or not so I guess it's all right, but Tyler Hansbrough got a slight concussion early in the second half."
Hansbrough's eight-point performance was "one of the worst games he's played all year," Williams said, until he took a charge in the final minutes to help secure the 69-65 victory.
UNC plays N.C. State on Wednesday night.

Zebs are asleep
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 08:57 — JasonModlinThe zebs are asleep this year. I've seen the network show several replays over the course of several games where Hansbrough was clearly hammered and only Stevie Wonder should've missed it - yet the whistles never blew. Drawing contact and going to the foul line is not a crime -it's an art, and I love to watch an artist at work. Go Heels!
Lost in all the noise....
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 14:48 — JPDOhiois the fact that even a low-grade concussion is not something to be taken lightly. It doesn't matter who the athlete is or what team he plays for, I hate to see this type of injury (or any other for that matter) happen. And this is coming from a State fan on the day before UNC (perhaps Tyler-less) hosts the Pack.
I do agree that the refs are allowing way too much mugging, to the extent that it has become an accepted tactic for less talented players to deal with superior opponents. It not only is ruining the game, but, more importantly, it is putting players' health at risk. The way things are going, I am not sure why they bother to cover the ice with floorboards any more.
Biggest klutz in the ACC
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 14:30 — DeaconPeachHansbrough hits the floor so often because he trips over his own feet. So how can we possibly expect him to avoid falling when another player runs past him or tries to guard him?
YOU SAY
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 14:52 — gvillegatrrun past him or guarding him, but you do not say over him or through him. not very objective deacon peach fuzz.

Everyone who trash talks
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 12:35 — psh0117Everyone who trash talks about Tyler is just pure jealous that they don't have such a dynamic player on their team. And you know you would love to have him on your team, and if you say no, than your just plain crazy to not want a guy who would put up the numbers he has for 4 years and dominate.
Stop the hate, and appreciate!
if they say no ...
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 14:21 — gvillegatrit is not that thye are crazy. IT IS THAT THEY ARE TELLING A LIE!!
Pansy ??????

Hansblow
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 12:07 — GSO82TH's travelling, flops, fouls, etc. have finally gotten called. It's nice to have Duke and UNC argue over who gets the calls and who doesn't. They have both gotten the benefit of the doubt for years now... Welcome back to reality TARHOLES.
Welcome back to reality
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 12:18 — rtarnowskiIf reality is a 2 game lead in the ACC, I think I can handle that.
You can love him or hate him..
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 10:41 — UNC1998but you can't deny the facts. They will not go away. Hansbrough owns Duke and NCSU. period.
i don't think hansbrough
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 17:08 — mad_maxi don't think hansbrough "owns" anybody. he benefits from being a starter on unc. answer this one...in the last 4 years, what is unc's record when hansbrough doesn't play?
tyler
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 10:40 — george32the other acc coaches, especially the godlike k, have complained about hansborough rules for years and it is having an effect. he also looks slower possibly because of the leg injury. if ellington can stay solid with the 3s, things look good.
full circle
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 09:31 — gvillegatrthe guy plays harder than anyone else in basketball. period. i've said it a thousand times on here before, you can set your watch to Hansbrough taking a cheap shot during a ball game. guys get so frustrated b/c he never takes plays off unlike his brothers who play against him. it makes them work their entire time on the court and they cannot stand it.
Hansbrough has been so good for so long and is now getting the Shaq treatment. if hes not bleeding, we're not calling it anymore. you also saw this out of Thabeet last night even though his status is no where close to Hansbroughs. imagine, it took just ONE GAME for UCant's coach to go into a frenzy about the treatment Thabeet got. imagine what Coach Williams has to go through EVERY GAME and keeps his mouth shut, for the most part. albeit, he did have a sentence or two last night on his radio show concerning Tyler. but not an entire press conference!! LOL.
whatever the case me be, as long as Ty Lawson is rolling ... no one will stop the great Tar Heels!!
haters against Tyler, here at ACCNOW and everywhere, could only dream they had Tyler on their respected team. keep dreaming!!
"you can set your watch to
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 17:05 — mad_max"you can set your watch to Hansbrough taking a cheap shot during a ball game"
^you're right, he does take cheap shots....every time he lowers his shoulder, or when he tries to slap brandon costner like a little girl.
"imagine what Coach Williams has to go through EVERY GAME and keeps his
mouth shut, for the most part. albeit, he did have a sentence or two
last night on his radio show concerning Tyler."
^did you see the paper the day after unc's three point win over florida state? there was an ENTIRE article featuring roy williams complaining about the refs relating to tyler hansbrough. get your head out of your rear and maybe you can drop your hypocritical comments
thank you. try again anytime
mad max
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 23:04 — gvillegatri'd be "mad" too if I rooted for nCSU. as usual you cant get anyones points. you're sooo overwhelmed with contempt and hate for growing up a nCSU fan, you only see the worse and get bent out of shape b/c of it.
my point was, UConns coach, Jim Calhoun, goes ape sh*t over one game where Thabeet doesnt get a fair shake whereas Coach Williams has been putting up with this all season. ooohhhh. I missed one article about one game. Big deal. It happens every game.
I'm not looking for sympathy by no stretch of the imagination. UNC is the best team in the Triangle, the best team in the state, best team in the nation. Tyler's the best player in the nation. But, it doesn't change the fact Tyler gets sucker punched in every game he plays in b/c he breaks the will of every single defender that plays against him.
thank you. try again anytime. (what a dumb closing sentence!! LOL)
you like to just ignore
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 16:06 — mad_maxyou like to just ignore facts that are brought about in discussion, and then you flaunt your opinion in everyone's face. you said that williams has to deal with bad calls every game but keeps his mouth shut. i point out where he definitely didn't keep his mouth shut and you try to change up your story. i wouldn't expect anything else from you though gatr.
also, hansbrough gets sucker punched every game? if you're gonna try and compare williams' situation to calhoun's, then please, PLEASE show me a clip of hansbrough being flipped over somebody's shouler and almost having his arm broken. you can't, because all of these "sucker punches" are in your head.
"UNC is the best team in the Triangle, the best team in the state, best team in the nation. Tyler's the best player in the nation."
^pretty bold statements there. when unc loses in the tournament, and hansbrough is exposed, are you gonna eat those words? most certainly not. hell, people still talk about how "delusional" state fans were during the chuck amato era. but you'll never hear about unc being over-hyped or underacheiving. so, continue to make your statements. none of us care, because we know when it's all said and done, you won't own up to them.

Tue, 02/17/2009 - 08:41 — hgelly42TH intiates the contact, hits the floor at least 3 times a game
usually after he ducks his head and loses his balence because guys avoid the contact , he falls like a 165 pound guard
The ACC and National refs are on to his head down dive into guys routine. The gigs up he'll still get calls in conf. but the NCAA Championship is for men not pansies and UNX will not win it because TH won't square up and shoot a jumper.
OH and a real news flash that there is a excuse for his performance.
Did he suck it up and play w/ conc. and deserves the extra effort award
Or did he go up against a man, get beaten down, played the whole game and come up with the conc. after the fact
hmmmm
i think hgelly42 is on to
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 16:59 — mad_maxi think hgelly42 is on to something. what's been happening when TH gets into the tourney with big east refs? oh yea...there's this thing called travelling. also, i love the look on tyler's face when these refs call a foul on him. it's like he's never been called for anything in his life. this douchebag exemplifies what unc is, and that's why america(outside of tarheel nation) hates him.

Tue, 02/17/2009 - 08:29 — Worz4UNCIt was amazing TH finished the game GIVEN all the roughhousing Miami was ALLOWED by the officials. NO WORDS can explain why it is the way it is. The ZEBRAS have just simply gone to sleep.
