The future of N.C. State's struggling defensive backfield became a bit brighter with the commitment of safety David Amerson of Dudley High in Greensboro.
Amerson, who's 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, chose N.C. State over Notre Dame according to Dudley coach Steven Davis. He intercepted nine passes last season as a junior, but Davis did not have updated statistics for 2009.
Davis said Amerson will play free safety in college. The Charlotte Observer ranks Amerson as the 13th-best player in the Class of 2010 in North Carolina.
"He's a very intelligent player," Davis said. "He's got the athletic ability to go with it, but he does a good job of anticipating the play before it happens."

GoHeels 1984 must be a UNC graduate
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 21:26 — jimcaudill34He may also want to use spell check on future posts to avoid embarrassing himself.
It didn't matter if Amerson
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 19:53 — awdracerIt didn't matter if Amerson took his visit to UNC or not. He's not interested in UNC despite their best efforts.
It looks like UNC's in-
state recruiting effort is going to be a complete and total dud this season.
BUUUTCCCH ROOOOOlZZZZ.
Whatever. He's 0-2 as far as I care.
Walk of Chumpions
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 17:31 — JPDOhioMan, what a difference a couple of wins makes! After a temporary (and well-earned absence), the baby blue chests are expanding again. Good for you.
While you are cackling about the chumpions, though, keep in mind that you've got Miami and BC coming up. After those two games, you might still need a win at State to qualify for a bowl game. That "walk of chumpions" may be from the locker room to the bus taking your heroes back to Chapel Hill.
I couldn't agree with you
Wed, 11/11/2009 - 11:34 — mad_maxI couldn't agree with you more JPD. Amazing how two wins have brought all the Heels fans back online and has them expecting to win out. What a joke. Just a few weeks ago these guys were saying that they wouldn't win another game all season! I tried to talk some sense into them, but they are always right in their world...good thing they don't have a very long memory span.
c'mon JPD
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 19:30 — gvillegatreither BC or Miami will e a win for UNC ... maybe both? Jacory Harris' achillies heel this season has been a strong defense which the Heels have. BC is over rated and I do expect UNC to beat those guys.
then comes desert!
You're probably right, but...
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 20:54 — JPDOhioyou never know. Miami is capable of pulling off a win at Chapel Hill and BC is tough at home.
Should be interesting.
Agree
Tue, 11/10/2009 - 11:43 — SurferCould certainly happen and then State would play their best game of the season. Probably, but not for certain, their last game of the season. With nothing to lose and the chance to keep UNC out of post season play. Wouldn't surprise me to see......
But, the fact remains, State still has the "walk of champions", a relic of a name, left over from Coach Tomato's era. It is entertaining, but they've got to change that name, maybe have a contest to do so. Something like "the wild wolf walk", "the wolf den walk", "the wolfpack stroll", "the Carter-Finley walk", or just win something and leave it as is. No animosity here, just having fun.
How about "perp walk"?
Tue, 11/10/2009 - 12:27 — JPDOhioSorry. I was thinking about the NFL.
Look
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 17:29 — YAR8packLook at all the butthurt tarhole fans. Why so frumpy, ladies? If you guys are so superior, why do you keep coming here? Troll elsewhere. Geesh.
Heel fan 84 are you a grad
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 16:32 — Steven252525Heel fan 84 are you a grad or like most UNC fans a "walmart fan?"
""Walk of Chumpions"." Walk
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 16:28 — GoHeels1984""Walk of Chumpions"."
Walk of Chumps is correct! From the busses, a lap or two around the big cheesy gaudy wolf statue on the fake mountain along the red brick parking lot to the big brick stadium. Walk of Chumps!!!

Mon, 11/09/2009 - 16:19 — SurferTuth be known, he wants to play on the best defense in the country and participate in the "Walk of Chumpions".
Truth be known
Wed, 11/11/2009 - 11:46 — mad_maxHe probably just wants to play for a school who's conduct off the field can be respected. At State, he doesn't have to worry about getting assaulted by teammates, or getting involved in drug trafficking, or getting stuff thrown at him by his own fans, or gang-raping young children...all of which are things that have historically happened within UNC's football program.
I'd rather be a chump than a thug/rapist/coke-head any day. I know I probably just hurt some feelings, but you guys should think before you bombard a State post with your fair-weather troll comments.
Why 84, because Carolina is
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 13:46 — Steven252525Why 84, because Carolina is such a power house?
UNC's defense is Top 10
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 15:14 — UNC79UNC's defense is Top 10 nationally, but the offense is probably Bottom 10. This kid is looking to play defense.
Wow, the UNC fans are really
Wed, 11/11/2009 - 11:23 — mad_maxWow, the UNC fans are really coming out of the woodworks now! Just weeks ago you people were calling for basketball season and claiming that UNC wouldn't win another game this year. What a joke your fanbase is. I feel bad for the UNC football fans that are actually respectable...there are some on this blog, I will not deny that.
consistentcy
Wed, 11/11/2009 - 14:59 — gvillegatrthe difference b/tn the UNC and ncsu posters, here at ACCNow, is we never left this site. we are here quite a bit through the week.
the ncsu fans, here, have flown "south for the winter" again. you guys are always around for the pre-season and when the sh*t hits the fan, (baskets or football) most of you leave.
also, no one called for basketball season as an excuse for football season, UNC wise.
damn internet errors and
Wed, 11/11/2009 - 11:25 — mad_maxdamn internet errors and time-outs...
He probably figured he would
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 13:43 — GoHeels1984He probably figured he would start his first year at NC State. He would have ridden the pine for 2 years at UNC before starting.
You guys are almost as bad
Wed, 11/11/2009 - 11:18 — mad_maxYou guys are almost as bad as John Bunting coming on TV to tell us all that Russell Wilson definitely would have gone to Carolina had they offered him a scholarship...instead they used it on the likes of Mike Paulus. Great choice there!
Early commit
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 13:03 — SurferNice pick up for NCSU, they need it. Looks like he committed to State before even making his scheduled visit to UNC (11/14 according to Rivals). Makes sense.
Please!
Mon, 11/09/2009 - 11:50 — YAR8packIs there anyway he can suit up for the Wolfpack right now?
FIRE Mike Archer!
